The issue isn’t really the list.
Coaching the big problem.
No, it's injuries.

Coaching the big problem.
Why are you bringing Collingwood into it, when this thread's about Carlton?
You asked a question, and you got an answer.
You had 12 clubs finish above us the last 2 years, similar this year.Carlton have had a seven teams in the competition consistently better than them over the past few seasons - Brisbane, Geelong, Sydney, GWS, Collingwood, Port Adelaide and Western Bulldogs.
Hawthorn flew past them in 2024 as if Carlton were standing still, and Fremantle and Gold Coast will do the same in 2025/26.
Is that specific enough?
Collingwood, Fremantle, Gold Coast and potentially Adelaide (thinking an easier draw) will all go past Carlton.Just for the record, which teams are going past Carlton rapidly ?
Collingwood, Fremantle, Gold Coast and potentially Adelaide (thinking an easier draw) will all go past Carlton.
So you admit that Collingwood are currently behind Carlton. Don't think it's going to be a rapid as you thinkCollingwood, Fremantle, Gold Coast and potentially Adelaide (thinking an easier draw) will all go past Carlton.
Nothing to do with Collingwood Worm4So you admit that Collingwood are currently behind Carlton. Don't think it's going to be a rapid as you think
Disagree. Carlton have offloaded some fringe players and will try and regenerate with some young players whilst keeping nucleus of the playing group together. If they can get a good run at it on the injury front, I think they will be a good shot at top 4.Nothing to do with Collingwood Worm4
I just answered the OP
I believe the list has peaked and that there will be sides going past them.
The OP asked has Carlton’s list peaked ? To me it’s yes , getting rid of core players like Kennedy and Owies is a step backwards , Their top 5 players have peaked , but should be in their prime for the next 2 seasons, this is not the issue , your last 5-6 selected is very average , has been for a number of years , player quality depth is lacking , hence your mid table finishes , have the Blues finishing between 6th at best (all going well on the injury front) and 12 th .
Kennedy was sub in a lot of games this year. Hardly core. The OP asked has Carlton’s list peaked ? And yet they were both good enough to play 47 of a possible 48 games between them this year, one kicking 33 goals, the other finishing 10th in your B&F.Kennedy was sub in a lot of games this year. Hardly core.
Owies didn't have a defensive bone in his body. Kicked goals yeah, but lacked running the other way when the ball got moved away from our forward line. That was a big problem for Carlton this season, hence they let him go.
If any club can't replace the kennedy's or owies in this world, then they've got problems. They are a dime a dozen
It can't possibly be balanced. He has already played his hand and confirmed that he has Carlton finishing 15th this season. You had 12 clubs finish above us the last 2 years, similar this year.
Not sure your cognitive bias allows for a balance "analysis"
You have got pick 3 which will be most likely be pick 4 draft night. That player won’t make you better in season 1, you’ve lost your best small forward and I just don’t see improvement out of your list.Disagree. Who do let go then Einstein. Which players specifically. And yet they were both good enough to play 47 of a possible 48 games between them this year, one kicking 33 goals, the other finishing 10th in your B&F.
For a club with a massive problem with depth and durability, they're not exactly the type of players you should be letting go of...
Ok. No worries. You have got pick 3 which will be most likely be pick 4 draft night. That player won’t make you better in season 1, you’ve lost your best small forward and I just don’t see improvement out of your list.
Backline is a serious concern.

And more common in recent times.Maybe, maybe not. You’re in no position to say this with any great deal of certainty.
Early picks having an immediate impact is hardly unprecedented.

Nobody could seriously argue Kennedy or Owies are “core players”.
Amazing to think, just a few weeks ago many would’ve considered them duds, now all of a sudden they’ve left and they’re crucial.
Laughable ‘analysis’.
The bottom 6 argument is stale. No team has an amazing bottom 6, and average footballers can do well in the right system.
No team goes all the way without a best 22 that fall away at the back end.
Well I just did.Maybe, maybe not. You’re in no position to say this with any great deal of certainty.

We've got one last throw at the stumps id say but the fossils still have one year left in them. Youre better equipped long term list wise if you can get the group to play to its peakBackline is only a concern if a KPP such as Weiters or Gov go down.
Backline doesn't have much depth if one goes down.
Also pretty bold claim that pick 3 or 4 won't make us better when the best player in your team since he was drafted was a pick 4 if I'm correct?
We underperformed this year plus injuries, list is still in its peak, will it get us a flag? Only the gods know that answer but don't have to be a God to know that as per your other comment, will be a genuine shock and surprise if Collingwood "soar" past us with the age demographic of majority of your core.
Well I just did.
Going by what we know of this years draft, yes it’s a decent and even draft, but there are no Harley Reid & Nick Daicos types that will instantly make you better.
I think we are in a position to say this as we have plenty of access to the young up and comers and have seen what these guys have to offer through the Coates League and Representative carnivals.
It can't possibly be balanced. He has already played his hand and confirmed that he has Carlton finishing 15th this season.
Thread needs a non biased opinion away from Fadge, bandit, cobbers, itchyscratchy who all have us finishing close to bottom purely on biased hatred of Carlton
