Have people outside of Port Adelaide realized how good Jay Schulz has become yet?

Like Ottens?

Sorry but losing good players for "opportunity" reasons is a cop-out.....especially in a weak team where theres plenty of room for good players to get a game.

Shultz is just another Richmond mistake in a long line if Richmond mistakes. Fortunately for the Tiges they finallly seem to be on the right path, but they should never have lost Shultz. Hes a classic case of talls taking time and the original club not having the patience to wait and develop.
Nah, he was ordinary when he played for us and he's still not that good. Was pretty lazy too.

Can someone fill me in on exactly why he left the Tigers?

He didn't work hard enough, had no second efforts, had plenty of oppurtunities and didn't seem to be able to work with Richo in the forward half. For some stupid reason also Terry Wallace tried to turn him into a centre half back. He has become a good footballer and good luck to him, there are plenty of guys that take their second chance with a lot more purpose and intent. We'd love him now next to Jack right now.

Guessing you're not a big fan of Jack Riewoldt then? He only averaged 0.2 goals more than Schulz this year and his averages weren't affected by injury like Schulz's were.

Jack had 5 operations pre season missing a fair junk of the pre season and still took out the Coleman.

How are averages affected by injury, totals yes but averages?

This is right, the problem with that is keeping Schultz on the field long enough for him to be the 1st choice, a lot to like about him though but he needs to do the good things he does more often.

You're an idiot. It's been pointed out to you numerous times that Jay Schulz is objectively one of the most consistent forwards in the competition and even on the main board you continue with this line.

Jay Schulz failed to kick at least 2 goals in 1 out of 14 games this year. Jack Riewoldt failed to kick at least 2 goals in 7 out of 22 games this year.

And to be fair, Richmond hasn't always delivered to the forward line in a decent fashion of late.

Cotch, Lids and Martin are changing that now, but it took a while.

Love what he has become for us.

No point whatsoever rubbing it into Richmond, I like probably just about every other Port supporter facepalmed when we gave up a third round pick and a young player for him. The move to Port and the retirement of Tredrea really saw him stand up and become a fearless leader, captaincy material even.

Deserves all the plaudits he gets nowadays, a quality footballer with amazing courage.

You didn't give up a 3rd round pick. Pick 71 and 3rds player Mitch Farmer is what you gave us....Good trading, Richmond

Jay Schulz was never a shit player. He had great hands from day 1 at Richmond and showed lots of potential. Unfortunately for him we had a bloke who was pretty handy in the spot he was best suited to. We tried to turn him into a CHB without great success and he moved on.

He figures prominently on a list of players I regret the club losing. In fact he might be the only one on the list now that I think about it. Always liked Jay and happy to see him doing well at Port. :thumbsu:

Quality forward, you'd hope he could get a full season next year, could easy kick 50-60 goals.

I wish Tippett had an accurate kick on him like this bloke. Seems everytime I watch Port he'll nail all of his set shots for goal beautifully.

Kinda reminds me a bit of Henry Playfair.

Nah, Playfair was a reasonable tall forward option, but mediocre. Has he ever kicked 42 goals in a season where he missed 5 or so games? Has he kicked 3 bags of 7? Not too many key forwards show the courage that Schulz does going for his marks.
