Awkward Season 4 GIF by The Office

Stats on Ben, one on one, tell the opposite story as he is one of the worse one on one defenders in the league but I have a something to say on this point.

If you jump out of an aircraft at 30,00 feet without a parachute putting on a helmet ain't going to make an appreciable difference. Keep this in mind.

In the Collingwood game in the last quarter twice Ben went for a low percentage mark and the spillage resulted in Collingwood goals,A fist would have put the ball many metres away. Now they were running over us so they probably would have gathered the ball, metres away, and scored anyway. My point is that Ben has little judgement on when to attack and when to defend, but he will not learn this balance until it actually matters.

He might as well take a few grabs, concede a goal or two as we are ten goals behind.

Corr is worse statically one one one than Ben but he isn't strong enough to ever play Ben's role.

Ben will make a great backman but we have to get better up the field so Ben gets desperate to bring the ball down as we are two points up with two minutes to play,

Ben will be our parachute but at the moment he is putting on a helmet
Which statistics are you using that says Corr is worse statistically?

It was very different.

You didn’t see players drop the bundle and not try. They tried to the end but gave the game away with that horrid first quarter.

Previously in the year that 1st quarter performance turns into a 100 point loss.
I really think you are seeing what you want to see. The two weeks previous we saw similar games with different coaches.
After a change of coach people are more forgiving.
Yes we fought the game out but not for the first time this year.
Do you think if we play Geelong next week in Geelong the result would be any different to a month ago?
We need to play the year out and reset over the preseason.

You forgot the other critical difference, we sacked Nobles 'cos it's his fault!
After a shithouse start we fought the game out all day. We kicked seven goals in the last quarter with that wind. That's more than we've kicked in about three games and then another three or four where we only kicked seven.

Also was our third highest score for the year. All of them in the last three weeks.

Against Noble that would have been a 15 goals loss.

So the reverse Nobles loss Ferbs??

Disagree.

At least we are seeing effort now. That effort was severely lacking for a stretch of 11 weeks.

Today’s loss was due to a garbage 1st quarter, abysmal umpiring and lack of skill, not effort.

It was a hard watch. Lachie Young was fantastic, Zurhaar tried hard but had no support and terrible supply up forward, Ben McKay was great, McDonald was good locking down Breust, Spicer needs another pre-season to continue building his strength and confidence, our midfielders were convincingly beaten. We desperately need all of Cunnington, Thomas, Phillips, Larkey and Comben all on the park round 1 next year or it’s not going to change

Many people glossed over the scoreline last week. If Tigs had kicked 22.11 instead of 11.22 it would have been a 50 point loss last week.

Don't get me wrong, last weekend was the best weekend I'd had all year.

However, nothing significant has changed in the stock, game plan or effort, and this loss is no different to Adelaide, GWS or Sun's all of which linger down near the bottom of the ladder with us.

We are a bad side atm, simple as that. Glad our supporters had a little positivity last week, but in the grand scheme, last week doesnt mean much.

Always going to miss Souve. He competes like a beast and takes defenders up the ground.

So what benefit do the assistant coaches have? Was blakey used by Sydney to get his son? Then he was thrown to the slaughter? Is he useless? Younie? Rocca? I doubt any of these guys are there next year. ******* useless
I think Blakey and Younie are gone

The most staggering part of umpiring was the disrespect to JHF.
Probably first bloke in afl history to be coat-hangered and penalised.
Well we all knew that was going to happen, didn't we!

It was an absolute disgrace. The umpire concerned, and the two others on the field who did not intervene to correct the error all must stand down or be sacked.

That decision was an absolute farce.

Tassie is no longer a 'fortress' for us.

The sooner we are kicked out, the better.

At Marvel, I think we would've been more competitive.
I get why we play there for the cash, but as a supporter and member I ****ing hate the Tassie arrangement.

How good would have today been to back up with a game at Marvel after a good win. I think people would have showed up after last week as well. Instead we travel down to what is a average venue in front of 9k.

All solid points however, we were having trouble getting our hands on the ball, at least now we are breaking even in ball numbers both inside and out.
We are still breaking down at half forward and struggle to keep it inside 50 which results in less inside 50's but i've seen an improvement over the last few weeks on that count.
Don't want to single him out but Spicer had multiple chances at half forward to gather or at least contest and he did nothing resulting in the ball going the other way, if he at least halved the contest in all of them then things would have been very different. This applies also to JZ who often just fell over instead of trying to halve the contest.

Would've been somewhere between 25-30k.

Our supporters would've shown up after a win like last week.

It just kills momentum... piss off Tassie and we get to have more miles added at the grounds that matter most (MCG and Marvel)

We need to learn if we can stand in our own without the Tassie money sooner rather than later.

I agree though. Playing games in Tassie is hard to generate interest from your Melbourne heartland when you are away for an extra 4 games a year on top of our already shit draw with travel.
