However, Sav Rocca burst onto the scene in similar fashion without support - 4 goals (on debut), 6 goals (second game) and 4 goals (third game), kicked 29 goals in his first 10 games. He turned out to be a very good goal-kicker, but struggled for a while.

I once read a stat that Sav kicked 100 goals in his first 25 games. Sav had some injuries and wasn’t particular aggressive. After kicking 93 and winning the B&F in 1995 Sav had a knee operation and was never quite the same. Not sure how aggressive Hawkins is. Injuries are the great unknown.

Opposition coaches will soon wise up to the fact they just double up on him while he is fresh and let him tire himself out, before going single on him. Its his first year and he was coming off a low fitness base. He will spend time in the twos and put in a big preseason for next year.

Doubling up on Hawkins is a win for the cats,we now have several targets up forward and if that happens we should be smart enough to use other options.Still not bad for a kid that's played 2 games,is it.

Geelong will never win another premiership Carlton will almost certainly win another premiership.

For all the superstars Geelong have had over recent decades they can NEVER put it together and actually win anything, pre-season cups aside. This is because they are in fact females. Poor kid will join the likes of Ablett, Couch, Bairsttow, Hocking, Stoneham et al as a flag-less champion.

Add Robert Harvey to that list, Sainter.
