Not really, Blancks surgery was just a complete **** up.
From reports, the recovery and complications are about as bad as you'd get.

There is a chance I'm overstating things, but he has certainly been 'opened-up' again numerous times. It doesn't bode well.

Makes it much more likely the graft will fail, must be incredibly frustrating.

Was it the surgery that went bad?
I thought it was multiple infections that followed, requiring further procedures?
I don't know specifics but it sounds like he's had a few infections. They can range from needing a few ABs to being catastrophic to the process. If they get in the knee deep enough they stop the graft from taking and essentially make the surgery redundant. Plus it will keep his pain levels high and not allow him to complete any meaningful rehab.

If he's still limping now as a poster above suggested you'd have to say he's probably mid season at best for next year unless there is a dramatic turn around.

I'm unaware of how many ops he's had, and the nature of them (clean out or revision). But it certainly sounds like he's needed more than one trip to the table. Heartbreaking for James. I saw him professionally late last year and he was in ripping nick and really ready to explode.

I have heard from a player he has had two infections associated with the surgery, not good, most likely wont be able to play next year :(
That is so unlucky for James and hope he recovers.

From a list management perspective, would it not make sense to put him on LTI so we have a SSP spot open. Maybe even delist, pay out his contract with promise to relist once he is back to good health but not sure if his health care cost would still be covered in case of delist. So maybe better to go the LTI route.

I really do wonder if we're going to seriously hunt a key forward this trade period. Our KPF position is not terrible, but not great.

Dear is going to be a star, we can be reasonably assured of that.
Lewis could be a star but is monumentally injury prone, and may not be back 'til mid-season next year.
Chol was fantastic during the H&A, exceeded my expectations, but was found wanting a little in finals when the whips were cracking.
Scaife looks a strong prospect but is very young and untested. Could go either way.
Gunners has one year left.
Ramma, as a ruck/forward: obviously the jury is still way, way out on him.
Who else is there?

I think we need to go hunting....

Sorry if someone has asked this before but when are the Hawthorn exit interviews? We only one retirement - Chad - and two delistings so far - Stephens and Tucker - and we need to clear 4 more spots as I understand it.

Pretty sure they're already done. Any further delistings will probably be done after trade period.

I expect the rest of our delistings are conditional on other player movements, medicals, etc.

For example, if we somehow don't land Barass and Battle during trade/FA period, then DGB likely gets another year.

However, if we land both, AND can convince Frost to stay, then DGB likely becomes surplus to needs and a DFA.

We're not going to sign him up before the other pieces are known.

In the meantime, we have probably agreed to terms for renewal, and are encouraging he and his management to shop around, hoping we can perhaps generate a half-eaten snickers bar in return.

Crap about blank, hopefully frost does stay. On all the YouTube blogs he looks like he's happy at Hawthorn and is mates with all the players.

Wen photo in front of Kennedy statue in Jersey?
Yeah but he is unrestricted so assume that he already has a polo and the only reason there is no photo yet is because we are not in the free agency period. So technically he is still contracted to St Kilda.

Correct. He's signed a contract with us, but paperwork can't be fully lodged with the AFL until Oct 4th - when it will officially announced via the media.

I think we need to go hunting....Weddle
I am sure we will be on the lookout, but they don't grow on trees. The back half is stacked so we have the option to play Sicily, Weddle or even Scrimshaw as forwards. We will also be paying close attention to McCabe's development. I am not too fussed about Chol's modest finals returns. He will be fine with a bit more support.
