List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management for 2025

Usually do one of these before the trade period but was caught-up with other stuff this year so here is my post-trade period update! This is what I have at the moment. As you can see, firstly the list is STACKED in terms of talent (which we already knew) but is also pretty close to being completely full as it is. If what I have is correct, then we have 36 primary list, 4 Cat A and 1 Cat B locked in for next year which leaves us with limited options in terms of drafting next month and SSP/MSD in 2025.

If I had to guess, I'd say we are likely to delist-then-rookie one or both of Gunston and/or Breust for flexibility. Regardless, we can only intake a max of 2 players to primary/Cat A list at the moment plus the option of another Cat B player if we want (which I suspect we will re-sign Bennetts with).

As usual, if you spot any mistakes then please let me know :)

Is this just a bit strange?

I hope he makes it, but he’s currently a third choice ruck and hasn’t really developed as a key forward.

He's 21 and was picked up as a project player - let's give him a bit of time.

Cmon man. Day has had injuries every year that has cost him a bulk amount of games. This has also really impacted our season each time it occurs. I don’t think anyone can deny that. Super important player that we need fit for at least 22 games a year at this point.

Ankle injury from a dirty tackle wrecked his 2021 season into 2022. 2023 won the PCM. 2024 had the foot issue and then the broken collarbone. Two "freak" accidents and one actual injury IMO.

Now if we were talking Mitch Lewis, I'd probably agree with you.

He is 21. By way of comparison, neither Meek nor Reeves had made their debut as his age. Chol has played one game, He is on track.

He’ll be 22 next year and already had a contract, why not see if he develops more before committing a list spot for an extra year?

Just seemed odd when list spots are super tight. If it results in us trading Reeves, we’re immediately short for rucks.

Ramma has already gone past Reeves as our second ruck and he is most definitely a ruckman, he is not a forward. Huge tank and gets around the ground as well as anybody, started to take contested marks around the ground as well in the back half of the year. We can lose Reeves and Tucker, pick up JUH and we should be fine, if they wanted to take another mature guy as a rookie to help out at Box Hill I wouldn't be to upset by that.

Ever considered that our footy department and list management folk are well aware of his current level of development that’s why they gave him an extension? I don’t think they did it just to annoy you.

And a great deal of 21 year olds are 22 next year - but thanks for the tidbit.

When Reeves missed a solid chunk of the season with a debilitating back injury, Ramma shone as the main ruck at Box Hill. Has similar athletic profile to TDK and he showed a lot playing as the new ruck prototype.

Needs to continue to build on his ability to mark around the ground but is certainly showing good signs.

I think Ramsden is developing well. Last year he showed glimpses and that he could do some good things. This year his ruck work improved a lot and he was more consistent in his performances at Box Hill.
The club maybe now feels he is our second ruck as he provides flexibility.
He suits the modern game as when he rucks he also can impact at ground level, has a good tank, and can rest forward.

Great news. The footy department must obviously like what they see in his development.

Does this also indicate Hawks may be agreeable to a suitable trade for Reeves? Or am I seeing something that is not there .

Low to mid second rounder minimum please.
Reeves will go but second round a fantasy Grundy went for pick 30 odd. The ruck merry go round operates for picks in the 40s and 50s hes at the back end given injury change in ruck rules etc. go to eagles for their r4 pick currently 59 would be an example of a realistic outcome.

Grundy went for 30 because of his Salary dump. Reeves has no such problem I wouldn't think

Grundy is an irrelevant example, they had to get his salary off the books. Great trade for Swans in terms of draft capital but it came with big salary.

Late second rounder / early third rounder is about right for Reeves. On output I’d agree that is overs but ruckmen commonly go for overs

Ramma will see more AFL game time in 2025 I feel.

Not strange, he's got some rare athletic traits for a ruckman.

He looked way off being physically ready for AFL football when he got his odd game, though another preseason or two will do him wonders.

Yeh I guess if he’s now being developed as a ruckman it makes sense, he certainly looks like a better player during gameplay than Reeves.

My question was more regarding the timing, and what it means. Seems like everyone is certain Reeves is being traded suddenly so it makes some sense securing our backup option.

It would leave our list with only Meek and Ramsden as ruckman, which is not enough.

I don’t know anything about Jaime Uhr-Henry other than he’s 209cm and 21. Could he be our third choice ruckman?

Reeves > Soldo

Is he? Pretty equivalent i reckon.

He was our 2nd ruck and we’ve just extended our 3rd who we will probably play ahead of him from here on.

this would mean ned is our 3rd string ruck moving fwd - hardly solid ground for anything more than a pick in the 40s.

Where the hell are you getting this idea that Ramma will be preferred to Reeves?!

Reeves is our 2nd ruck unless he decides to move elsewhere. He has shown far more than both Ramma and Soldo have.

We are told we have no salary cap issues and it will be gunner and bruest last year.

Why are we even contemplating diluting the strength of our best 30 or so - beyond what we absolutely need to.

Players have reluctance to leave hawthorn too.. which has made rebuild a little harder.

When the competition seems so even at the top, just go into 2025 as strong and as deep as possible
