List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management for 2025

Usually do one of these before the trade period but was caught-up with other stuff this year so here is my post-trade period update! This is what I have at the moment. As you can see, firstly the list is STACKED in terms of talent (which we already knew) but is also pretty close to being completely full as it is. If what I have is correct, then we have 36 primary list, 4 Cat A and 1 Cat B locked in for next year which leaves us with limited options in terms of drafting next month and SSP/MSD in 2025.

If I had to guess, I'd say we are likely to delist-then-rookie one or both of Gunston and/or Breust for flexibility. Regardless, we can only intake a max of 2 players to primary/Cat A list at the moment plus the option of another Cat B player if we want (which I suspect we will re-sign Bennetts with).

As usual, if you spot any mistakes then please let me know :)

Very interesting. Thanks Roddy.

In 2015 had 6 A and 14 B
On current list need Day Weddle to go from B to A and Watson Dear to go from C to A

Hardwick should be B plus at least

In 2008 had just 3 A compared to Geelong 9 A mind you when you look at brisbane 2001-4 draftguru massively over rates the cats eg A grade Darren Milburn?

And the door is a bit open anyway given Dear and Lewis might be on the sidelines early on

We played Gather Round last year with Meek as the number 1 ruck, Ramsden the ruck/fwd and Chol the full time forward.

Mabs hurt his ankle early and was largely irrelevant.

Ramma didn't have a massive game on the stat sheet, but he passed the eye test.
Competed well around the ground in the ruck.
Pushed back and took an intercept mark in the oppositions goal square.
Played in front and managed to score his first career goal from a 40m set shot.

There was SOMETHING there.

To start season 2025 we'll likely be left with a similar option. Chol permanent forward, Ramma forward and relief ruck, and Meek doing most of the grunt work.

Unless we run with a completely different structure.

Nash, Weddle and Chol did a great job as a group filling in for Meek when he needed a rest. Plus that way we don’t lose anything around the ground by having to play someone as a 2nd ruck.

The chance is still there for Ramma as a forward but I’d say if he gets picked it will more be because his form as a forward is deserving of it. Not as a 2nd ruckman (though he’d likely do some rucking if picked).

He’s one who really needs to start turning potential into performance this year.

IF we get a full fit Lewis and when Dear returns who do you guys see losing there spots in the forward line for these two returning players, Chol and Gunston?

As a Forward line of Chol, Gunston, Lewis and Dear seems way to tall, you could carry 3 but not sure on 4.

I think it depends on the ruck situation. Chol plays the second ruck/resting forward so would stay.

So between the other three and would depend on form.

Gunston (possibly sub?, maybe not)

Looking at our regular 2014-2015 talls after buddy left
Lewis = Roughead
Chol= Hale
Dear = Gunston

Of course there is the option to have Gunston (or dimma, battle, Sicily as already discussed)

I know it’s touchy subject but do you give any extra credit to players that play 100 consecutive games or get up to 300+ ? Or are just super lucky?
I feel like at some stage injuries are not just luck, those players with durability do the extra conditioning, understand their body, take care of it etc.
I do believe being able to stay on the park should be partially built into the players contract as these guys are professional athletes being paid for and expected to help their team win and they can’t do that if they’re injured.
So when Impey had his ankle fractured by an opposition player, it was his fault? What? For not having less fracturable ankles?

When Day was pushed into the brick wall that is Jai Newcombe it was his fault?
