Probably Friday night at the MCG. Geelong vs North will be at the dome due to NM's inability to draw (see the Hawthorn vs North final last year).

The Semi Final that drew 75000?

Unless all 4 finals are in Melbourne and/or North/St Kilda host an Elimination final against a non Victorian club all Victorian based finals should be at the MCG

It depends on who makes it. The AFL has a policy that all teams haev a minimum 6 day break if possible. Saints playing on sudnay in last round, so if they make it they wont play on the friday night.

Geelong play on the saturday in rd 22, so that means they are moire likely than no to play on saturday or sunday arvo. Id imagine as thye are the numebr one team the afl is likely to give them what they want more than anyone else, Id imagine the cats would want a day game at the MCG, good prep for a grand final

Nice research there.

QF: 77,630
SF: 74,981
PF: 43,953 (AAMI stadium, was a good attendance for Port)

All-Victorian finals in Melbourne will always draw real well, even if its the low drawing Vic clubs playing eachother ex. North Melbourne v Melbourne. The occasion of a "final" between old school VFL clubs that will bring fans out of the woodwork.

It's those low drawing Vic clubs hosting a Non-Victorian club in a final in Melbourne that can be a real worry (2005 Elimination Final, NM v PA, 25k?).

It has less to do with who is playing and more to do with where it is being played. Smaller Vic side vs Interstate side at TD and not the AFL allocated game means you are looking at an ordinary crowd.

AFL usually allocates their freebie tickets at the MCG and MCC/AFL members go to MCG games so your crowd is pumped by up up to an additional 25k. You will draw a reasonable crowd by default in a final at the MCG.

AFL could easily fudge their numbers to not have poor finals by loading low expected games at the MCG. You are left on your own pretty much at TD vs an interstate team that doesn't travel.

Both the QF and SF were heavily pro Geelong and Hawthorn crowds

I was at that SF and it was 60-40 at best.
Not what i'd call "heavily pro Hawthorn".

Surely not on a Sunday, although the AFL have done stranger things (like in '97 when they played 3 of the opening week finals on the Sunday????)
