Struggled big time.3rd week in a row. I think you read the stats sheet too much.

Agreed, he isn't in the best form.

I still remember Tige19 saying he will be a top 10 mid in the comp come the end of season haha. Ridiculous expectations.

People have to remember he still has awhile to go until he reaches A grade status. Still only his 5th season so drops in form are likely to occur.

Good thing is we have 2 absolute A grade players running through our midfield atm in Lewis and Hodge who are in ridiculous form and that's not even mentioning Mitchell who has been our best mid for a decade. Players like Langford have a lot of time to further develop until they have to shoulder the responsibility.

Hopefully his form picks up over the next few weeks

Context - you have no concept of it. I swear you watch the game on the AFL website and just keep refreshing the stats page.

Yes, I watch football on the TV, with the sound turned off and with a Tablet on my lap so I can keep an eye on the stats. Not cheap uncontested possession stats, but like Hodge and Langford today, the contested ball.

Lewis: 41 poss, 7 contested, 4 clearances, 7 clangers, 61 DE
Langford: 26 poss, 18 contested, 8 clearances, 5 clangers, 81 DE

How am I reading those wrong or out of context please?

Congrats on the win today guys. Best of luck for the year ahead.
Bad luck with your injuries. You had the bad luck to catch us after the loss to *, so it was a doubly difficult task. I have a soft spot for the dogs and I hope Bevo can get you back into the winning circle in September.

Your obsession with Jordan Lewis is bizarre and a little bit creepy. You add very little to this forum.

Positives: Basically all players had a good run. Hodge obviously, really liked Ceglar's game and Puopolo before he got subbed out. Duryea was strong and Roughy just huge. 2 Hawthorn players getting 40+ disposals, never seen that in my lifetime.

Negatives: Potential injury to Poppy, Suckling and Breust been spending too much time doing their weekly sport challenge and not enough time preparing for the game. Suckling was lazy and didn't do anything defensively, and Breust just kept being caught and didn't feel he had a good one. Langford kept getting caught, Lewis' disposal I50 has just sunk down low. Rioli's goalkicking needs a tune up.
Agree with everything you said great post

The problem is (1) you are still reading the stats rather than worrying about watching the game and what's actually happening (2) Langord had 0 impact on the game and made bad decisions, got caught when he was in the clear and just got himself in trouble when there was none there to be had.....there's a reason he's choosing to handball a lot which is inflating any supposed DE advantage too (3) you're making an argument and a comparison that is unneccessary. I never had Lewis in my votes and mentioned his kicking was poor today. I never made a comparison of Lewis v Langers but if it comes down to it, Lewis was better. However for you to disagree with my opinion on Langers and somehow once again make it in to another argument on Lewis is pretty bloody petty IMO.

Anyway, good luck with it all. Never put a Hawk on ignore before.

I thought suckers, BB and langers all struggled today. I never read the stats only go by what I see - IMO even smith wasn't flash but apparently he had 35+ possessions. Just goes to show how much I know about footy

Thought Whitecross did more than just make up the numbers today, he actually played a solid game and was deserving of his spot (was it him who had the ball when the siren went? If so, it was appropriate). Duryea and Ceglar are making it very hard for Clarko to rotate players in and out of the side for team balance with their steady improvement, and are becoming vital cogs in the machine.

Dogs hampered by injury during the game as well as the withdrawal of a future Brownlow medallist beforehand.

The most interesting thing about this game was that now I can say I've seen a Burgoyne clanger. Doubt I'll see one again :)

In Rd 1 he seemed to be trying to shoot every time he got the ball within 50 no matter the percentages - started happening a bit this game too. He does seem to be doing the run with stuff with Shiels out so he's not as noticeable in the middle though.

This propensity to "bomb it in" is my primary angst trigger point these days, Lord protect anything living in my house if they just blindly do this against Port next week ! :) ... in all seriousness though, it is so "Un-Hawthorn-like" to do this... leave that sort of low percentage disposal to the Josh Kennedy's of the world!

It reminds me of 2010-11 era Hawthorn. The biggest difference between then and now is that we ALWAYS look for the better option. It doesn't always come on (and some of our 'knowledgable' fans start screaming "Just kick the bloody thing") but it means we rarely have low percentage shots at goal anymore.

A good game, but still a far cry from what we're truly capable of. Hopefully we blew out some cobwebs.

Good to see Whitecross back and Hodgey is a beast!
