If JOM and Titch put together another 70 handballs between them it will play straight in to our hands. That's what we are striving for at the moment, forcing the handball and then a midfield turnover. If we win this it puts the Hawks in second last place I reckon. Got a feel about it like that time we smashed the Lions when they were falling away, and we were rising. Time to announce ourselves.

Hoping Roo goes to Smith's wing for midfield spells. Nick's aerial threat somewhat negates Smith's power running IMHO & would make him very accountable when Roo floats inside our 50

Good point but if we can't win the footy in tight he's pretty loose and could get burnt... Newnes more accountable

Oh FFS Dunstan is dropped on poor form. He'll go back and have to earn his recall. People saying I hope he stays there for the rest of the season and that he really deserves it are full of sh#t to be honest. It's like he's an arseh*le that deliberately tries to play badly. Is it his fault he's been picked week after week, he'll either get better or he won't get in but the personal dislike of him is just f#2king bullshit to even more honest.

This. I have been a passionate criticiser of Luke playing AFL on his current form. But honestly, him going back to VFL isn't the same as saying that he should be delisted. It's good for his development, for a whole host of reasons. It also makes us a stronger team in the short term.

I think it's great.

Midfield is without Armo at present. There's 1 usual suspect not playing.

Dunstan omitted gives a chance to another.

While we didn't win in the reserves last week, there's a lot of Saints boys playing great footy - Stevens, DMac, White, Rice, Savage, McCartin, Marshall - putting pressure on the seniors. Then have others like Lonie, Long who are recently out of the seniors back to push their names again.

And furthermore, encouraging signs from Phillips, Freeman the Irish boys, Battle out there, with Goddard back playing after LTI

Exciting times ahead knowing we have 2 1st rounders & a shit load of cash for a Free Agent IMHO

Any +ve in Cyril being an omission is more than countered by Nick Foot on the whistle.
The under/over line for free kicks would be about -7, not quite Domain stuff but not far off.

Good changes. Looks like one of our strongest of the year on paper. Sincs has great potential, and hopefully now will do more than flash in and out of the game. Koby didn't come in to play VFL. Think it's good they waited until he regained form and fitness, although I hope he's over the head knock from last week. By the way, did that Batchelor bloke get a holiday for poleaxing him behind play last week. Am sure I read that on the game thread.

So really only missing Armo if he's fit and in form, possibly Hickey, and then a solid cast of replacements searching for form and fitness. Savage, Dunstan, Mackenzie, Long and Paddy. Rice, White, Goddard and dare I say it Freeman in the wings.

Go Saints!

Will also be super interesting how we rotate our midfielders, and half/small forwards.

Steven and Ross are probably our only pure mids.

Steele, Stevens, Billings, Acres, Weller, Minchington, Sinclair and Gresham can all rotate forward and midfield.

My gut tells me Steele and Stevens will have a majority of the midfield time given up by Armo and Dunstan, but we'll surely see most of them rotate through at stages.

I'm bloody excited!

If our 2nd round pick were to fall after pick 30 (once FA compos & academy kids are assigned), Jack Steele is literally a steal
If Steele can be this good at 21 with very little pre-season work, then imagine what he's like in a couple of years. Seriously fit and with a harder body the sky is the limit. For all the recent moaning about our recruiting this is (and will be) one of our great trades.

Very happy with the changes.

Only thing is I'll admit I'm nervous about Billy here. Would be much more confident with Hickey going in against Big Boy. Still, go Bill. Get the win.

I'm calling Billings to take advantage of the slightly larger ground and weaker Hawthorn side and have a blinder!

He's taken care of us before, so let's not crucify him just yet, let's be civilised and at least wait until the 5th minute of the first quarter to do that

I was at this game, noise was so loud. There was Geelong supporters still jumping up and down thinking they had won for about 30-40 seconds after the free kick had been paid.
