In all seriousness though. Even the most one-eyed Hawk fan will realise, that was a golden opportunity to beat Geelong.

What can they do differently that will be enough to defeat a Geelong team with 4, A+ inclusions come September?

I dont wanna hear umpires or missed opportunities.. cse these things affected us aswell. All part of pressure.

All very reminiscent of Port last year and we saw what happened to them in the PRESSURE of FINALS!! - notice the 2 bold words there. Geelong go alright in those aspects.

Face it - Hawks time will come soon but not just yet

Great game, great atmosphere and, in the end, Geelong's experience got them home. We had our chances and the Cats took theirs, so no excuses from me.

A few observations:

- IF Buddy can get his kicking right he will be bigger than Jesus.
- Franklin beat Scarlett
- Selwood is quality
- Corey, Enright, Selwood and Bartel (and Ablett) are the benchmark midfield team
- Hawthorns defence is not as bad as people think
- David Johnson is a very average footballer
- Cyril Rioli is a star.
- Geelong are definitely beatable and are nowhere near as good as their supporters make out.
- Hawthorn played good footy and should've won the game

Well done to the Cats. Better on the night but certainly don't hold any fear from me should we meet in September.

Do you know what the word contradiction means:(.

just toooo fast for Scarlett Buddy was said so on the tv during the match

Lucky it's not a foot race:D

Still waiting on a Hawthorn fan to tell me why they can win the premiership this yr with a logical response

....um we dominated the 80's.....um, 9>7......err, 89,92,94,95.....um, BF join date 2007......um, Buddy......err, Scarlett is sh*t/.....umm, Mooney worst AA ever!!!...

and i could go on and on

EDIT: umm.....bloody umpires are cheats!

Every news report on the game has said Franklin had the better of Scarlett.

Like it or not, Franklin won that battle. :thumbsu:

No he didn't really and like it or not Geelong won the match and that's all that matters. Franklin should have put us to the sword but his failure to convert hurt his team as usual. The marks he took on Scarlett he would have taken on any defender in the league and Williams could have got out on the lead and taken them too such was Hawthorn's mid field dominance at the time. What's more Williams would have actually kicked straight too.

And enough of this 'Hawthorn should have won' garbage. Geelong squandered just as many if not more great opportunities to kick goals and gave away no less than two goals directly because of uncharacteristic errors (Scarlett and Rooke #### up and Corey's clanger down the middle).

Alright I have too much dignity to wade through the tide of shit that's no doubt been spewed forth by Geelong (and Hawthorn) supporters alike.

So I'll just pretend the thread hasn't devolved into a wang measuring contest just yet, to say:

Geelong are far and away the best side this year, not that this should be news to anyone. Because anyone with half-a-brain would've realised this weeks ago, and at the least after last weeks demolition of the Doggies.

As for us, well I can find solace in the fact we're still on the right side of our bellcurve. Unfortunately I think Geelong haven't reached their peak just yet, either.

Alright you dullards, let the **** measuring re-commence.

Wrong turn, you're in Bay 13

That's way too intelligent and realistic to be here.

Well the thread title does say 'Civilised Posters Only.'

Maybe all three Cats (and Hawk) fans, in here, that have successfully completed their VCE might feel obliged to offer a proper response.

Well I thought a well educated man such as yourself you might see the subtle irony in the thread title, seeing as it's Bay 13.

I agree with everything you said btw.

Positives -

* Confimed that to win a flag you need a quality defence
* Hawks don't have a quality defence and therefore will not win the flag

Our backline is obviously our main weakness, but they held up pretty well. It's not as if you we were hammered.

We most certainly need another key defender though. Care to send Taylor our way?

funny thing is you could have had Taylor over Rioli.

I know who would be a better fit at the moment in terms of structure.

I am making this thread for those supporters who actually noticed that the final margin was 11, and not 111. I know some supporters out there are good sports, and this game was a terrific exhibition of Australian Rules Football. So why hasn't anyone acknowledged this?

Here's your chance. Lets try and pick out the positives of the oppositions game, and get a bit of respect and civil conversation back into Bay 13.

I'll start.

  • Geelong have a fantastic second tier of players, who really stepped up tonight.
  • When the game is on the line, Geelong never lose their cool, and their class prevails.

bah oasdifjio asodhfioih killyou!11 ouasf shaa ahsss dieonstake!!! blah blah haha yumcha thanks for your mama

Rioli is still a very good get.

I won't be surprised if Roughy gets thrown down back at some stage from now on. Play Franklin one out with Rioli at his feet. Would be a better set up over the ground than what they currently have.
