Was at the match today, and like all season, I was disgusted by the lack of spirit shown by the Hawthorn Cheersquad.

I remember the days at waverly where our Cheersquad would create more noise then a full MCG could. However, all season I have barely heard a peep. Our cheersquad used to be the best, Drowning out the opponent's after they kick a goal. Scaring them. The cheering today was left to myself and a european man. For what it is worth, i was the one standing, walking the aisle 10-11 chanting to get something out of the fans...

Cheersquad members, you should be ashamed for the lack of spirit being shown this season.

Were you the young kid walking up the Aisles of m10-11, banging on the fence etc to get nothing back? Should have walked back upto the standing area with us. We weren't as focal but were still doing alright. :thumbsu:

yes, that was me:eek: doesnt bother me. Eventually it will happen, and ppl will realise that they need to cheer. It is a part of our great game. and also, not like I know anyone at the footy apart from who i go with (who i already act a fool around)

Ponsford stand was rockin, was a reasonable turn out by the blue and white, not Collingwood like but baby steps. :p

I actually commend the roos cheersquad. I would be proud to be a supporter of a club with fans liek that

It is pretty rough when you get pumped the week before and the bookies offer you retirement value odds on you winning, it just adds to the enjoyment I guess.

Get out and scream your heads off next week, am sure you will bounce back against the Eagles.

i know i put in 100% so i am not in that catagory plus i have noooo voice to prove it why not join to help us make more noise instead of bagging us!

are you a hawk supporter or a roo supporter !

yes i heard them that was when there was no way we were going to win last couple of minutes they sang their song i do it to when we win now there are 2 things you can do join the roo cs or ours or just stay a hawk supporter sitting else where !

I'm dissapointed with the cheersquad aswell. They were always loud and this year we are winning games alot and they are so quiet. I would love to go to the footy and have every hawks fan cheering but we are just those type of fans that arent as loud as others and I wish we could be, it would be much more enjoyable.

i tell you they were not quiet at the ess game at the pie game or other games i have been too i take great offense to suggestions i am quiet as i know i am not and i put in 200% remember 40,000 at the game 300 or so in cs can you make noise to go over the top of 40,000 plus people i think not they do make noise they do go quiet from time to time but do not go blaming them on this loss if you want to help make the cs noisier join it !

No offence MM, but I am very dissapointed with your attitude. It is oh so easy to say that others are crap etc., and not do anything about it yourself. Your a real tough man walking down an aisle trying to get a response. Why the ____ don't you buy a ____ing cheer squad membership and start chants from inside, instead of critiscising like the feeble, pathetic attempt for a human being that you represent. People like you are an absolute disgrace.

There are people within the CS that devote more time to the club in a week then you probably have in your life. Spending copious hours making banners etc for little reward. Tell them that they show no passion. FWIW, as far as I can tell, the cheer squad does chant typical footy chants. I don't think any other cheer squad does anymore, its not a ____ing soccer game.

If you have a problem, get of your arse and make a difference. Walking down an aisle like a tosser trying to elicite a response does not count.

With respoect do 'cheer squads' really serve a purpose anyway?

Hawkk If there was no cheer squads some interstate sides would have absolutely no representation at all. I suggest you look at the main boards Port Adelaide crowd thread. I think it is great when a cheer squad is large enough to fil out the entire back of the goals and it provides the team with inspiration. Where do you think the cameras pan to when goals are kicked.

Maybe, but every state has its member base and supporter group that gets allocated tickets to venues like AAMI Stadium, the GABBA, SCG and Subiaco regardless.

Point is, when you're playing at home, do the Cheer Squad's really have that much of an influence on the game?

Hawkk I sugest you ask a player to see how they percieve the influence of the fans. Due to us being fans we have a different perspective that can be argued in oposite directions. I tell you what, next time I have the oportunity to ask I will and will post to you.

Interesting thread.... suprised more like HH havent commented.

Purpose..yes... when their is a shot for goal...if its a goal or a point.
whether they wave or drop their banners after a kick has gone through for a goal or a point. If its one of ours the floggers go mad if not they go sad.

Fact is, they only make up a very small percentage of support for home games, and as HH said if their are 40,000+ at the game its very hard for 800 people to project volume over that volume of fans.

You could also make an argument that the Cheer Squad could also be a target for opposition players lining up for direct shots at goal, given the Cheer Squad is directly behind the goals.

the banners they run through i know the players miss them if not there they do the chants to try and lift them to show we support them 100% we do not leave till the siren goes and stuff is packed away .

we are a band or like minded supporters who put in everyweek evry club has them !

tell you and even better example freo has their purple day and the hawks are all in gold and stand out so much we won a game couple years back over there on that day and i went to the wc game over there after that win and was chatting with the guys and they said it looked awesome kept them going knowing they had supporters :thumbsu:

i can tell you in the crow final last year the fans did i know this as i chatted to Dicko after the game they loved the atmosphere could not hear the umps etc etc that atmosphere lacked in the roo final and yesterday , you can not blame the cs for that as it was everyone not just us that was lacking ok in both games !

yes but if all people around cs join in and around the ground make noise too that creates atmosphere like pie game this year .

when the opposition team go for goal we try and put them off when they kick our way buy swinging floggers then lifting at last minute works quite often when at the other end i scream till no voice now if you watched dogs game in tassie i know i was heard on tv and i know i was heard at the other end of ground listen out for me at lions game i will be there

I want to see a sea of brown and gold, hear hoarse Hawthorn voices reverberate round the ground. Be part of the passion that is Hawthorn! Let's make this week a tough one for West Coast! Calling all Hawks to get to the G on Friday night!
