I'd argue the 2001 trade period won us a few Premierships!
True, but that's US. How many successful trade periods have led to a St Kilda premiership? ;)

There's just no need for that....

Here it is
If Hawks win 2017 flag, Saints win trade by 848 points (equivalent of pick 22 for free).

If Hawks finish fifth in 2017, as they did this year, Saints win trade by 1024 points (equivalent of pick 17).

If Hawks get 2017 wooden spoon, Saints win trade by 2863 points (equivalent of pick 1-2).

He forgot to account for the compo picks for Martin and Fyfe when we nab them as free agents.

Besides its GC who missed out with that trade not us, we would have happily given all those to them but they wanted to play hard ball.

We have JOM we win the trade by over 9000 points.

If you have a team almost capable of making a flag but needing one more piece to the puzzle, a trade can give you a flag. Thats worth pretty much any number of picks/points/unicorn wings. When a team is in the window they are a large sunk cost of picks that are losing value across their prime and can all be potentially converted into a premiership by a small addition, or wasted without it. A trade that net loses points can add immense utility yield to the whole investment in the right window.

The team that trades with them may well be giving them a flag. Eg swans right now might have gotten some pretty nice picks for Tom from us, but that hurts their midfield right when they're tilting at flags (he was their best in the gf) and brings our midfield back strongly towards competing with them - huge blows to their flag chances. If their hand wasn't forced by cap they'd be nuts to do that trade despite on paper gaining great points from his investment.

Nathan Schmuck doing his best to advocate for a ridiculous ban for a Hawthorn player.

At worst it was careless by Shiels who wasn't even looking at the other player.

Frost's tackle was far more dangerous, and yet apparently that is only worth a fine

As predicted, fine for Shiels, suspension for Frost.

Get over to the bombers board's general footy thread and you will witness something special :D.
Are you referring to their 'Non-Essendon' thread? I think you are, but if not, get over there instead! Jade the stupid campaigner is having an absolute meltdown about how people are gushing over Roughead for beating cancer and not their drug cheating players for making their returns. "Waaah waaah! Everyone is trying to make me say nice things about a guy who beat cancer! Waaaaah!". Seriously, Roughy hasn't asked for it. Hawthorn hasn't asked for it. We haven't asked for it. A lot of people are just saying nice things because, unlike him, they aren't shit stains that let footy tribalness get ahead of the good news of a young bloke beating a cancer that likely would have killed him had the diagnosis been as recent as 5 years ago. He literally said part of the reason he's so annoyed about it is because Roughead has a high paying job and access to first class medical services so - get this! - he didn't even personally suffer. What an absolute bell end.
