Interesting article. But ... No key injuries plaguing us last year? Except our number 1 key forward and when it mattered our reigning Crimmins medallist.
Sicily was pick 56. Still, though...https://www.afl.com.au/news/1250787
Um …
How about Jai Newcombe (!), Luke Bruest and James Sicily
Mid season draft, Rookie and pick 66.
As well as our Full Back at the start of the year. And our replacement full back (playing career best footy) and one of our other midfielders at the end of the year.......Interesting article. But ... Edmund a bit silly there thinking we were lucky to make it. Had we beat Port when we were 42 points up we would have finished 2nd. If we did finish 2nd and had all finals at the G we'd have probably won the flag.Nice to see Kane back on Sammy's payroll for 2025
Agree. I don't think Edmund was really arguing against us as much as baiting Kornes into making the case for us.Edmund is a bland fence sitter devils advocate type but ill give him the benefit of the doubt & say he's playing that role on purpose
No I meant “too much depth”.They've just gotta fill in hours and hours every week...they really have to throw any thought they have on the table to blab about...
One of the dumbest comments that can possibly be made."Did they play above themselves?" - you can't play above your maximum.
"Can they handle being the hunted" - is there any real difference between "being the hunted" and "the opposition are trying to beat you in this game"?
I think there is a difference between "being the hunted" and just being the opposition in a particular game. For instance you can tell that in 2025 many sides were very well prepared with a method to beat Collingwood. Probably based on how Hawthorn and Carlton beat them in 2023. So every side studied that, saw what worked and didn't and had built a lot to prepare for it in 2024. I do not think many sides put much effort at all focussing on combating Hawthorn's gamestyle and just expected to win like they had in recent years."Can they handle being the hunted" - is there any real difference between "being the hunted" and "the opposition are trying to beat you in this game"?
