Yeah, it was at the Whitehorse Club in Burwood last Friday night. One of my good mates plays for the Devs side. Bloody hell this isn't good. :(
Box Hill B&F was Friday night I thought. Not Thursday.

There is both subtle and unsubtle victim blaming going on in this thread which is totally unwarranted.

To mods: can you please card the low life's that keep posting stuff like 'rapes barely get found guilty in Victoria...' 'Something about females lying...' 'Let's wait to hear what the verdict is and if it's not guilty then the woman should be charged'

This is totally disrespectful and is ****ing disgusting to read.

I feel awful about what has happened, and it's not because I support the Hawks and it involves a Hawks player; it's because there's a young woman in clear distress and anguish.

Chin up guys.

You're a terrific football club and however this plays out this is in no way a reflection on your club as a whole and shouldn't detract one little bit on what your side has achieved, so keep on celebrating your 3peat.

I think if it is true it still reflects poorly on the club. The players are representatives of the club and should uphold the standards and ethics that the club abides by. Those standards and ethics are presumably very high on such matters.

I believe that you are more than correct here...
All taxi's were supposed to be fitted with security cameras a few years back and should be sorted fairly soon either way...

Change your avatar already! ;-)

I hope Jedi Anderson, you were not one of the guys that changed their avatar as a result of the "Buddy" Franklin fiasco. If so, please pick Zac Webster for your next one, he's doomed anyway.

Let me be very, very clear about the moderators position in this thread.

We don't want speculation on the alledged victim. And we don't generalist, misogynistic comments about women, rape and 'consensual sex'.

We all hope this story has nothing to it, but until we know more let's all show some restraint and respect.I will wan

Personally speaking, if this allegation has substance to it, and if proven, doesn;t matter who the player is, I hope the player cops the whack of the law.

Finally, I will remind all opposition supporters that this is the Hawthorn Board, the leeway we give you will be very, very tight, so post respectfully.

Couldn't aggree more, but in saying that how many that have been accused/charged in the past have actually been found guilty???
Let's just all hope that this is a case of "crying wolf" and not the real deal because that can't be good no matter how people try to spin it...
Bloody predators make me sick!!! Got me baffled how rapist scum (in general) can force a girl that's saying STOP, NO, DON'T then turn around and be like, sorry I thought she said NO, DON'T, STOP!!!
If this does turn out to be factual (which I'm praying that it doesn't) then those involved need to be made an example of, simple as that!!!
If it's found to be BS then the alleged victim needs to face the full extent of the law also because which ever way this goes, someone's life will forever be changed...

So innocent
Nah. It takes a significant amount of direct evidence to even charge a person let alone go through the court processes and get a conviction.

Sexual offences in particular need direct physical evidence to 'prove' sexual contact was made, I.e. DNA from bodily fluids (I'm sure you get the picture). Finding someone's DNA doesn't prove sexual assault usually only that sexual contact occurred. The 'accused' will usual claim it's consensual and the victim will say they were r*ped. You then need more evidence to prove who is lying.

The police will be investigating the physical evidence at both alleged scenes.

And fwiw, pretty sure all taxis are fitted with mics and/or cameras.

Thanks for the post.

I'm aware of the process, just not over all the legal chat.

There is such a thing as individual responsibility though and a club has no say whatsoever in what these young men do in their down time particularly in the off season.

Personally I don't even know why they report these things at this stage when names are suppressed and we don't know if charges are going to be laid. All it does is creates needless speculation and rumours and that does reflect on the rest of the club which I think is wrong and it shouldn't.

The Pies went through the same thing after the 2010 GF with John MaCarthy and Dayne Beams. Neil Mitchell on 3AW named their names during the investigation stages of a sexual assault which was totally not on considering neither were subsequently charged with anything although they were both there when the incident occurred (andtheir conduct during the incident in question itself was extremely distasteful)).

Just because they aren't found guilty, doesn't mean they are lies.

It's a heavy burden to prove rape, especially when there is generally little evidence.
Whilst this is true, it doesn't mean they aren't lies.
I'm sure it will be a traumatic experience for all involved regardless of guilt.

Not to be unsensensitive mate, but why feel awful about 'what has happened' when you don't know what has happened?.
Our player/players MIGHT be completely innocent.
I just can't understand anyone taking either the girls side or the players side without the facts?
Let the boys in blue do their stuff before judging the situation.

I'm sure that I speak for all here when I say that if this despicable act has in fact occurred then these individuals need to be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law, however it findings do in fact prove it to never have happened then who are you to sit here and persecute people for voicing an honest, yet sympathetic opinion???

I have had someone close to me have a childhood occused of and actually convicted/incarcerated for sexual assault and despite pleding his innocence ended up being handed a hefty sentence...

The poor bloke was one of the nicest people I've ever met (probably to a fault) and wasn't cut out to be housed will criminals... Lasted little over 2 months before ending his life only to have his accuser later confess to her sister that it was all BULLSHIT!!!

What about his rights, his life, his family???

Sorry to say that sometimes people do wake up regretting their actions of the night beforehand... I'm not saying this is the case here either but we unfortunately can't rule anything out and until findings rule either way people need to tread very, very carefully!!!
