Correct. For reference below, once the HFC had the report outlining serious allegations they were duty bound by the AFL’s protocol to hand over the report to the AFL integrity unit.

So I closed this thread on Saturday to take a break from it all, and now I’m not even sure if we need to re-open it with there not being any great deal of “new” news to discuss other than Burgoyne and others telling media for the 20th time that they’re shocked and had no idea of the allegations.

As it stands we don’t know anything more until the AFL take the next step, and this is probably going to take quite some time to all play out.

I will open this thread again if some other news is presented, but for now lets hold off on the circular arguments for a while.

If other parties are now validating events it will be interesting how much documentation (emails, reports, text messages) have been kept or in some form of storage. A lack of documentation will be a very bad look for all involved and would tell me all I needed to know, but that’s just me.

Just an assumption but the governance surrounding this is going to dramatically change for all clubs next year and so it should.

Still lots of water to go under the bridge of this investigation. At the end of the day football clubs are not rehab centres. Looks like from afar people have been burnt on both sides of investigation.

We lost so many people to promotions during that period that there will be a lot of organisations impacted by this.

It's beyond the AFL now. It'll be decided in the courts.

The sad thing is the biggest lawsuit will be the former players against Hawthorn after they get dragged through the courts and their lives picked apart after being told to speak their minds because the report would be anonymous.

Genuine multi million dollar lawsuit that is about to snowball. AFL will settle to keep it out of the papers but this whole thing is cooked.

Imagine your employee putting conditions on your interaction with family.

For those with a legal background, how would these statements hold up in a court. As they are being made anonymously, how is one to defend against them? Putting aside the obvious things like Mr Bourke etc

A few additional thoughts from Robbo’s article (besides continuing to be mortified by these stories);
1. Bit unclear to me in the article what allegations the coach was corroborating
2. That if the HS have seen the report, that’s every story/allegation now in the open
