Not racist insensitive just insensitive, but sure signs of extreme controlling personality. Imagine thinking that would put it right
Not nearly as serious as some of the other claims but incredibly odd and awkward. The David Brent comparison is apt.

O sorry it was the other one….ooops….that’s racist

It all reads horribly for Clarkson's tenure and his relationship with the Indigenous players. Embarrassing reading as a Hawk fan.

It reads terribly for the executive and board of the club as well. They didn’t care so long as the team was winning.

Despicable.

I didn't say the response was appropriate. But it's not correct, to say nothing was done. An excellent discussion of it here.

I'm a Lewis fan, but he didn't get it. He and the other player within the leadership group created a situation where for there to be a consequence the young Aboriginal player copping the slur had to take the awkward risk of demanding a consequence for a senior player.

What First Nation is Sam Mitchell. He got pretty much the same treatment. All the reported things in this latest revelation are extreme controlling behaviour. We aren’t told the ‘culturally insensitive things’ this may simply be the reporting

Surely the issues need to be directly culturally insensitive and prove to be so.

Clarko is not on trial for being a control freak but for harm caused to a group of indigenous players over a number of alleged incidents.

Actually I believe the Hawthorn FootBall Club is on trial for alleged incidents across a range of employees including its coach, football manager, player welfare manager, CEO and president.

Which child was Sam Mitchell asked to abort?

This is all a bit ridiculous.

Asking if the partner was ***** Obviously naive to use that term but sounds like that player was trying to make a genuine connection inquiring about the Aboriginal players life.

Humphrey B Bear means you are quiet.

'Oh all the brother boys together' Not even sure what the issue is Aboriginal people regularly call themselves brothers. I am sure Eddie Betts has referred to other Aboriginal players as brothers.

'Why don't youse come and sit with everyone else' - a coach trying to get full cohesion with the team shock horror.

Kennets ripped jeans typical old man joke.

Clarkson seems on a completely one track mind for succuss and has seemingly done inappropriate things but calling it racism is pathetic.

I just rewatched that and noticed the Eddie used the word Aboriginal when discussing it.

Once again, here is the extract of the article i posted earlier.
--------------------
The term 'Aborigine' was commonly used up until about the 1960s but is now generally regarded as outdated and inappropriate. This is in part because 'Aborigine' is a noun, while 'Aboriginal' is an adjective sometimes employed as a noun. The distinction is important as the term 'Aboriginal' recognises that there are hundreds of diverse Aboriginal groups and languages throughout the nation, not just one mob. 'Aborigine' also has connotations of colonial Australia, and the injustices afflicted upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from that time on.
-----------------------

Aboriginal =OK.
Aboriginie =NOK

Now read it 5 more times.

Inappropriate and racist things yes. Old man jokes can definitely be racial, Birchell comment was racist and allegedly demanding that players abort pregnancy is hard to defend surely?

Serious question - I have only read over the last few pages but I thought from my reading it was an inappropriate word to use?

Aboriginal is the preferred option for many Aboriginal people. Aborigines is the taboo word.

Academics seem to take offence at the first part of the above. Most elder Aboriginals detest the word Aborigine due to the latter part of the given explanation. It was used in much of the Stolen Generation policy and discussion and was used to humiliate, segregate and destroy Aboriginal people. The hierarchical structures used it to put down Aboriginals.

Behaviours are culture. If you're trying to control and enforce behaviours that you think are appropriate - it's pretty likely that your control is going to fall more heavily on cultural groups that are different from your own. The obvious potential one in these Hawthorn stories relate to cultural norms about age to begin a family. For middle aged white private school guys, getting into really serious relationships and having kids as a young man- before your career has really started - is far from the norm and likely to be behaviours that you want to control - if you're that way inclined. But having kids early is pretty cultural normal in Aboriginal communities.
