Thanks for the History lesson. I think everyone on here concedes that is whats known as the distant past. For example how many of those flags represent the current configuration of clubs? You know the modern era and all that?

The modern era is you choked...1993, 1994, 2000, 2001 and 2007...no Grand Finals appearances since 1991.

6 Recent Premierships by Brisbane, the Crows and Port...were they playing back in the past when Hawthorn were a great VFL side? No one denies you were a great VFL side...heck Geelong has one 2 VFL premierships lately too if you want to bring up the VFL buddy.

Hawthorn choked in the finals series of 1993, 1994, 2000, 2001 and now 2007. You havent played in a Grand Final at all since 1991. Thats the last 15 years.

So if an unsuccessful finals campaign makes you a choking team, what happened to Geelong in:
2000 (was it Hawthorn you lost to?), 2004, 2005 (famous loss that one)??

VFL/VFA- 1886 to 2002- 116 years

If we were chokers we wouldn't have beaten Geelong in the first final of 2000.

Port Adelaide were called chokers prior to 04 because they kept finishing at the top end of the ladder then going out in straight sets.
THIS is what choking is.

We can talk choking all day long (god knows as geelong supporters we heard it long enough) but the fact is the geelong side of 2007 cannot possibly be labled as chokers after this year just as the hawthorn team of the 80's couldn't. But the hawks of the last 15 years....well that's another story.

Fact is you guys were tipped to win against an inferior north outfit and were humiliated, resorting to playing the man and not the ball, worried out of it by your opposition, in anyone's language that is a choke. So until they prove otherwise then the Hawks are the chokers of the AFL.

Trust me I know the pain you are feeling right now....the first stage is denial, you need to get past that...go on...take that first step

Your very dumb. It called when tactics don't work. Mental pressure of the opposition, similiar to Brisbane when it imposed mental aggression on its opponents. While the Hawks are still trying to adapt/experience that sort of game style you cannot classify the lost as a choke.

The prelim Geelong vs Pies. You were on thin ice that night and almost choke. With Collingwood playing extra time + lost of Josh Fraser and having the week off, Geelong only manage to hang on. Geelong choked that night and only managed to get away with it.

1993...the unfancied Crows in Melbourne come from behind in the last quarter to roll you in a final...choke...

1994...leading the Roos by plenty before folding up the tent and going home...choke...

2000...came up against the hapless roos after they were thrashed by the bombers...choke...

2001...bombers were out on their feet in the last half...gone...yet you found a way to lose by 1 goal and miss a Grand Final berth...choke...

2007...lost to a Roos side that in two other finals were completely uncompetitive...choke...

Its not just losing...its the nature of the loss.

We lost to Sydney by 3 seconds in Sydney in 2005 sure...but they went on to be the premiers. None of the sides you lost to in the last 15 years went on to be the premiers.

In 2004 we lost to a side who had won the past 3 flags on end...hardly a choke.

In 2000 we came off two 6 day breaks in a row when we played the hawks in that final...we lost by 9 pts from memory. Given a level playing field we would have won for sure.

1997...Colbert mark not paid at AAMI cost us the game when we were leading. Crows went on to win the flag.

1995...well yeah...but least we made it...

1994...well yeah...but we had a cracker of a finals series leading up to it and we were spent.

see its about the game itself...what transpired and what it suggests about the side...not just the result.
