Wingard is interesting. Was a star a couple of years ago but has not been as influential last couple of years. Seems to be one of those players where they try to elevate them to midfield etc without success.

Would have to take him with the view he's a forward. And on the provision he stops flopping.
I’ve seen this a few times. It isn’t right. He was struggling early this season up forward. I was about mid season that he was moved into the middle where his contested ball and clearance stats were awesome. I know because I traded him in to my super coach team and reaped the rewards. His second half of 2018 while playing more midfield was excellent. I’m sure someone can find his stats to demonstrate this.

He is a matchwinning midfielder/forward. We have lost Rioli and Burgoyne is on last legs. A very logical target if he’s keen to come. But I get the impression he will take the huge coin on offer

It's gunna be very hard for him to say no to 1.3 if we are offering 800k.

**** the saints.
Jesus, 1.3 for Shiel. That can’t be right?
They can have him. 5 years for Hanners, saints have gone mad

Did you manage to watch Chad when Ken Donkey finally decided to release him through the middle? He was exceptional around the contest, Wingards less the elite stats are due to Hinkley woeful game style not his ability to perform.

Heard Robbo repeat from somewhere tha Shiel is the giants 5th best midfielder. Expect to hear it a lot more if he compares to Hawthorn. Are we building a team for everyone’s 5th best midfielders?

Who is our 5th best? And will he become 6th best?

5th best midfielder at port?

That’s what I’ve been looking for!

You could get it all done, but we’d be mortgaging our future. You’d be coughing up 2 first rounders (this and next years), Ceglar and possibly a 2nd rounder. That’s again precluding us from the early rounds of the draft. We’d need to nail some DFA’s and late/rookie picks in addition. Like we’ve done with Morrison, Lewis, Moore and Hendo.

All of the above...
Pay up with draft assets & a couple of players & go late in a deep draft.
We seem to have a good bunch of kids that need another year or two anyway so a couple of flyers like a KPD, KPF, Ruck & a couple mid/forward would be fine over the next two drafts.
Throw in a FA 2019 after a, fingers crossed, successful trade period this year & ... who cares where we are picking??
If we only need to take 3 players every year in the draft & we upgrade a rookie anyway; we might not hit the top end talent but more the direction of getting it right for “fillers” or B grade players that ultimately keep the cap down to trade & lure high end players.

Player movement is only going to increase so if you can turn a rookie pick into a tradable asset every 2 years you are already ahead in asset management ala Cegs.

Well something like that anyway... possibly... maybe

Thats what has been reported in a number of different forums including just on 360.
800k for hanners and 1.3 for shiel? Unless they are expecting to lose Steven , those numbers are so ludicrous that the afl may have to jump in and say wtf???
Saints blues and Norf are a bunch of homeless, loveless pieces of dog shit that would jump in front of a locomotive just to be seen to be relevant. Throwing over 1 million at midfielders outside of Dusty or Josh Kelly is sure way of losing solid A- to B+ players from salary squeeze in the future. Just ask the Swans!

Personally, I'd be uncomfortable trading out Ceglar. I know someone like him would be required to make a trade happen as many posters have suggested, but I think Ceglar is so important to us. He is a very good player and our 2nd ruck. I don't think Pittonet is ready to be ruck #2. Big boy won't play every game, and without Ceglar, we'd be in trouble.
Admittedly, I am a Ceglar fan. Seeing him go might be necessary, but it would definitely sadden me.
Anyway, we'll see how it all pans out.
