Hawthorn v Essendon 2007

You've just named two rookie picks and two 60+ picks from the National Draft.

Not all draft picks make it, especially late ones.

You can do better.

Yes but i didn't know you were around.

ok, throw in Richards, Hunt, Reynolds..

does windowlicker still play?

what about carteledge?

They must have been top 40..

Hunt was outside the top 40, Richards was traded for a first round draft pick. Winderlich is still on the list and going alright.

Reynolds and Cartledge were in the 20's, Cartledge in an extremely weak draft. That draft were Hawthorn drafted Brennan inside the top 10.

You're going well.

The list I provided was in reference to Sheedy's tutelage of younger players. There's probably more..shane harvey comes to mind.

Or did we just draft bad?

Shane Harvey was a talent, but a knob. The only place he wanted to be was Arden St and even once he got there he couldn't get his act together.

Baby Bombers come to mind...

in fact richards is a good example, he's playing good footy at Sydney now - had a semi decent GF.

He also played a lot of ordinary football and wasn't worth the first round draft pick we got for him.

Ted played the last 10 games for Essendon 2005, down back. He saw himself as a forward and left for more opportunities to play as a forward. He knew he wasn't going to get opportunities ahead of Lloyd, Lucas, Hird etc up forward.

We wanted to keep him, he wanted to go. We got an extremely good deal for a player that isn't that good. He did have a good GF, by his standards. He's a limited footballer.

Poor example.

Adam McPhee?

He either drafted badly or couldn't get the kids up. Take your pick.

The Baby Bombers stayed in their nappies.

We drafted badly. Essendon Football Club drafted badly.

There is more than just Sheedy in the drafting process, we drafted badly 2000-2001 and had draft penalties in 1999. We've started to rectify that though.

The kids that played in the most recent U18 National Championships were asked which coach they'd most like to play under, Sheeds won the poll. They must think he has something to offer young players.

Youv'e said that twice now, Depsey was pick 19 - nice sugar coating.

He played well in defence, looks like Roos is getting the best out of him. Fine example.

Adam McPhee?

Good recruit, had one good year, makes up for Zantuck.

You drafted well in '06 - interesting times ahead.

I'd like to play under Sheedy, big deal.

Bullen would be part of Hawthorn's leadership group...maybe even captain. Similar player to Vandendud, just slightly better skills though.

He wouldn't have been used as a career saving pawn.
Sheedy rotated his youngsters like he does his wine bottles.
Soul destroying.

He's not playing better footy at Sydney than he did at Essendon and no-one at Essendon will be losing any sleep over it. It gave Andrew Lee and opportunity to play some footy and Dempsey showed some nice things too.

Poor example.

Thats a good one:D

The one and only funny thing I've read from you:eek:
