Hawthorn v Essendon 2007

I don't doubt your knowledge of your club, in fact I actually read what you type believe it or not, riddles and all. But you seem to place too much of the blame on the players and very little on the coach - your team is better than you make out. Your coach isn't.
No coach alive could've taken Essendon to the finals last year. Anyone who blames Sheedy for the season we had is an utter fool. We had key players out for chunks of the season, players out of form, players playing while carrying injuries, a lack of leadership in chunks of the season. All these things played a part in our poor year. Sheedy had very little to work with and despite some weird moves/decisions he made from time to time, we had no hope in 06 with or without him.

Okay, that was mildly interesting tangent.
We agree to agree to disagree to agree to whatever.

Sheedy is probably experiencing the onset of Alzheimer's disease, McVeigh is a homo, Essendon suck and Hawthorn will extend their ownership of their bitter rivals to 4 in a row.

Close the thread.

Where did you pick that gem from

Also because we've just recruited kids with a heap of potential to replace some of the dead wood on our list. Who better else for them to learn off than Sheedy.

Possibly someone new, fresher and more focused? I love Sheeds but it may be that his epic Essendon journey is coming to an end, and he may not have the intangible "it" anymore. Hopefully that's not the case though, hopefully he finds it again.

Sheedy employed the dead wood.

Every bottom 4 club with priority picks recruits decent kids.

Lucy, Jolley, Bullen, Haynes etc etc can't have embraced his teachings.

Only the end of 2007 will tell I guess. Personally I still think he's got a couple of tricks left up his sleeve.

That's probably why Hawthorn's crowds have surged and Essendon's have dwindled.

You've just named two rookie picks and two 60+ picks from the National Draft.

Not all draft picks make it, especially late ones.

You can do better.

Sheedy employed the dead wood.
Again, is he the only coach in history to make some mistakes?

Unless they get really unlucky. What I was getting at is that from our poor season last year due to obvious reasons I listed in one of my previous posts, we were fortunate enough to pick up some great young talent. Talent that can help get us on the rise.

Lucy, Jolley, Bullen, Haynes etc etc can't have embraced his teachings.
Not all footballers are as naturally gifted as others. I won't defend everything Sheedy does, but you're reasons for letting him go aren't good enough for mine.
