AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
No coach alive could've taken Essendon to the finals last year. Anyone who blames Sheedy for the season we had is an utter fool. We had key players out for chunks of the season, players out of form, players playing while carrying injuries, a lack of leadership in chunks of the season. All these things played a part in our poor year. Sheedy had very little to work with and despite some weird moves/decisions he made from time to time, we had no hope in 06 with or without him.I don't doubt your knowledge of your club, in fact I actually read what you type believe it or not, riddles and all. But you seem to place too much of the blame on the players and very little on the coach - your team is better than you make out. Your coach isn't.
"Sheeds didn't have his best year"
We could have saved 75 posts.
You only had to look at the ladder to determine that. Doesn't change the fact that in most games, Essendon employ tactics to slow down the tempo.
Where did you pick that gem fromOkay, that was mildly interesting tangent.
We agree to agree to disagree to agree to whatever.
Sheedy is probably experiencing the onset of Alzheimer's disease, McVeigh is a homo, Essendon suck and Hawthorn will extend their ownership of their bitter rivals to 4 in a row.
Close the thread.

Can you read or not?Are you a fool or not?
I only had to watch half a dozen games.

That could be your problem...
Falling asleep at 3qtr time?
Can you read or not?
How is that me blaming him for our poor season? You talk like he's the only coach to make a mistake.
don't like close games?
none more boring than the Hawks Kangas game
No I don't. Do I think he should? Yes I do.Do you think he'll be offered another contract if the club finishes bottom 4 again?
No I don't. Do I think he should? Yes I do.
Because I think that with his experience, if he can't get our list off the bottom of the ladder with our best players in the side, there's little hope for anyone else.why?
Also because we've just recruited kids with a heap of potential to replace some of the dead wood on our list. Who better else for them to learn off then Sheedy.

Only the end of 2007 will tell I guess. Personally I still think he's got a couple of tricks left up his sleeve.Possibly someone new, fresher and more focused? I love Sheeds but it may be that his epic Essendon journey is coming to an end, and he may have the intangible "it" anymore. Hopefully not though, hopefully he finds it again.
Sheedy employed the dead wood.
Every bottom 4 club with priority picks recruits decent kids.
Lucy, Jolley, Bullen, Haynes etc etc can't have embraced his teachings.

Again, is he the only coach in history to make some mistakes?Sheedy employed the dead wood.
Unless they get really unlucky. What I was getting at is that from our poor season last year due to obvious reasons I listed in one of my previous posts, we were fortunate enough to pick up some great young talent. Talent that can help get us on the rise.Every bottom 4 club with priority picks recruits decent kids.
Not all footballers are as naturally gifted as others. I won't defend everything Sheedy does, but you're reasons for letting him go aren't good enough for mine.Lucy, Jolley, Bullen, Haynes etc etc can't have embraced his teachings.
