Autopsy Hawthorn v the great pretenders

I have no issue if teams want to play the tough act. Of course it would help their cause if they didn't go missing when it really gets tough in the last quarter like the captain of the Roos did in the last Quarter. It is meaningless otherwise.

I'd like the club to clarify 2 points with the AFL though.
  1. Are we allowed to touch an opposition's head and/or neck? Seemed to happen a fair bit with no consequence so maybe it is now allowed
  2. What constitutes an off-the-ball / late hit.

Yup. Is it now okay to grab an opponent's throat?

Also, if an opponent kicks the ball, it's OK to knock them down now? It's not a downfield infringement anymore?

Also, tripping opponents is OK as long as it's with the hand on the ankle in the goal square and the person being tripped is Luke Breust?

I'm pretty angry that Tarrant grabbing Breust by the neck and dragging him backwards was completely ignored on field and off. At he very least it should have been a down field / 50m penalty.

Gralin is right, they've set a precedent that a player can do whatever they want to Hawks behind play and get away with it.

Gutless M.R.P. didn't even comment on the so called "Dangerous" action of Ben McEvoy against Ziebell when Ziebell jumped into McEvoy and the umpire paid a free kick against McEvoy for a Dangerous action..............fair dinkum.

They could have, in fact should have reviewed the incident and praised McEvoy for his actions but no, they remain silent.

Gutles, gutless, gutless.

Well done to Brad Scott for deflecting the blame for the loss away from his team. That seems to have worked out really well for them...

Also really glad the fact Macmillan tried to stage for a free kick at the end has been critically discussed... wait... NO IT HASN'T! KILL ALL UMPIRES NORF!

We have a great coach, but the media still like to call him a angry little man. In his post match conferences he always gives the opposition credit, and especially if we lose. Brad Scott, on the other hand had nothing creditable to say about us, and in fact praised his side as though they had won. In addition, he made several insinuations that the umpires were entirely to blame for their defeat. Other than the one well documented, he implied that we got 13 goals from free kicks. Quote: "I think, that except for Rioli's goal, they got all their goals from free kicks."

North would be better off without him.

North Melbourne v Hawthorn
9 Robbie Tarrant (NM)
8 James Sicily (Haw)
7 Jordan Lewis (Haw)
4 Daniel Wells (NM)
1 Cyril Rioli (Haw)
1 Mason Wood (NM)
So Tarrant 5 and 4
Sicily 5 and 3
Lewis 4 and 3
Wells 2 and 2
Cyril 1
Wood 1

Yeah....so.....butt....we won the fights..............didn't we................Brad said we did....

Don't worry, lads, they'll all keep. It's only North Melbourne, anyway, just a nothing club.
Our club doesn't whinge or complain, we keep it indoors.

Our great club will hit hard when we need to.

So what the MRP is saying is that it is perfectly acceptable so every marking contest someone can come through like Ziebel did and it is OK.

Unless the player stays down and takes a while to get up..... then it's not acceptable

As long as there was no intent to hurt :drunk:

So in closing:

north won the battle
North won the game
But strangely Hawks have the 4 points - sounds good to me

Open season on Hawks players. Do as you please the rest of the competition to Hawks players.
Don't play the ball. Play the man.

If Hodge had of done to Zeibhead..what he did to Mitchell. Straight to tribunal and two weeks.
I'm just glad we won the game and push those pretenders further down the ladder where they belong.

You forgot NM got the important moral victory based on their coach's presser:brokenheart:

The MRP are playing with fire here. Hits to the head like Mitchell copped are the biggest issue in NFL as they have an cumulative effect. These can be of greater concern than the odd big hit that knock you out, as explained to me recently from a trauma nurse. This is why the AFL are reluctant to change the high contact rule, all the minor knocks add up.
