I think Friday night's game was easily the best of the season. I say that because this is the most active post game thread if the year. Passions still run high.

Apart from being the game that keeps on giving I was really impressed with how the boys went about it considering the efforts North put in to suck us into going the knuckle

Yes, but David King's $50 translates into $5,000 when you factor in contested possessions and inside 50's.

It's the stats, boys.
Ah David King, the guy who relies on stats to stay alive and yet, still can't get it right when it comes to knowing the difference between free agency and trades.

Wow the AFL (and some supporters) have really lost the plot. Here I was thinking the Essendon saga was a stupid as it could possibly get.

Does anyone else wish footy could just be about footy? The AFL and it's affiliates (clubs, players, press) continually acting as some kind of moral arbiter is doing my head in.

A few pages back, there was some discussion about North commemorating their 96 premiership on Friday (and their 75 one in the corresponding fixture last season). Last year, Essendon celebrated their 84/85 and Carlton their 95 in their home games against us. I don't think it's anything to do with Hawthorn per second, more that you advertise your success in a home game against the reigning premier.

Which is why it's important to keep winning, so that others have to reach back further and further into the past to find a favourable comparison to our unending glorious present. Because that's the Hawthorn way.

Don't know whether it has been mentioned but when Puopolo kicks the sealer at the end, there is a deafening silence in the commentary box for nearly 10 secs. Understandable as they were wishing Hawks would lose all night and it was just too hard for them to digest it at the end and that that loss will have to wait for ........:D:D

Ha! I just went and had a look. Silence is Golden.

All of the footy commentariat want the Hawks to lose. Victory, every time it comes, is sweeter than the last win.
