God i thought they said broken, how many weeks is this injury?? anyone with a rough idea?

broken = fractured

Only a guess. If it really is then 4-6 weeks. Biggest problem becomes contact.

Let's wait and see.

The game got under way in wet and slippery conditions. Hawthorn were woeful in skills, decision making and execution. Hard to say but Buddy seemed to be ruck roving. Hard to say because 95% of thr 1st quarter was played in Norths forward line. Most of the quarter saw EVERY Hawthorn player so far forward of the centre that NO ONE was further forward than the BACK line of the centre square.

North wanted the football and out muscled Hawthorn and tacked us into the ground.

The turnovers were really junior club standard.

The second quarter was no better. Nrth were so far better it was a joke. The conditions kept Hawthorn in the game because he north forward line had every player on the ground in there for most of the time.

After half time the conditions improved and so did Hawthorn. Better ball movement, hitting more targets, good decision making and more endeavour.

The second half of the third quarter was back to something of a slog but we did better in that slog than in the first half.

Buddy kicked 3 but spent the majority of the time between centre and half back. He did 3 or 4 big runs from half back to forward of the centre only to have the forwards squander his work. He seemed to "rest" at FF. The Schoe played forward for a lot of the game and was pretty useless but did good things when he was in the backline.
Peterson was lively but the wet is not his prefered conditions. Hooper did a bit, and I mean a bit but not much more. Mitch was good in the first half but I really did not notice him after half time. Renouf did well in his firt hit out. rucked well, and took a couple of good contested marks.

Bloody Buddy. He gives me the s**ts. He gives away stupid frees, really stupid frees and he wants to argue with the umpires and try and umpire the game for them. If he keeps this up he will be a shadow of his best in 2010. The umpires give him no slack and I can see why. The man is too big for his boots at the present. He is no Cassius Clay who shouted to the world "I am the greatest" and he was. Buddy ain't

At the risk of opening an Eastern Front......

What I take umbrage to is the insinuation that I would be pleased Taylor is injured. I don't "do" whipping boys.

I have never been pleased to see anyone, anywhere, injured.

Have I now made myself abundantly clear?

Without wishing to aggravate you even further - I don't believe I made any such insinuation.

My comment was "For those who are the serial taylor haters it will be interesting to watch your comments over the coming months should this turn into our worst nightmare and we lose taylor for a while."

In other words, while it may look bad at the moment it could be about to get a lot worse. If you want to read anything further into that then suit yourself - have I now made myself abundantly clear?

Unfortunately missed the game today (forced to sit around and hope the storms cleared so we could continue our local cricket final).

Hope that the injuries are not to serious and that the players get back on the park as soon as possible. Hate hearing of injuries to any player as I love to see the best teams at full strength play tough footy.

Best of the luck for the season.

I can say from first hand experience that if you think you've broken your collar bone, then you have broken it!

Dont expect to see Sewell back till Rd 6 at best.

My guess rd 9.

they dont insert plates as its dangerous to have a plate in that area in the event of heavy contact.

It will take 6 weeks for the bone to heal properly but in order to take heavy contact, thats another story all together.

Big injury, big loss.

North played the smarter wet weather footy and deserved the win. That said, weather aside, perhaps Clarko wanted us to practice our dry weather game in match conditions.

Let's not read into the result too much. Not taking anything away from North though.

More concerned about the injuries than the loss- unfortunately with the lack of official news the rumours are cast far and wide as to what they actually are.

Bring on the season proper! Go Hawks!!

PS. Aquaplaneing down the western hwy on the way home was not fun!! Anyone who might just be about to drive back after dinner be careful!

well said , i am tired of the tails bashing really !

and i am sure there are others that give free;s away in every team !
i remember a game last yr of course tails getting bagged yet they forgot that the other ruckman from the other team gave away roughly the same amount of free's and maybe got one more then the ones tails managed to get !

Here here. When sitting at the hawks v dogs game last week I felt sick when they paid a free kick against Tails. Was it there - probably yes but they hadnt paid it on any other player all night. I remember thinking it is just another reason for those who like to Taylor bash more ammo.

Does no one listen when Clarko says that he made a wrong call in relation to Taylor and the way in which the club pushed him last year to be more agressive which ultimately backfired on us.

The guy needs a break. Whether you love him or hate him, rate him or not he is what we have and I hope that any injury is not serious.

And for those of you who think that ruckmen grow on trees just to be easily picked up in the draft what planet are you living on?

Spot on NUMBER 24, Pull your head in BUDDY.
Kids running around wet or dry should be showing moooooooooore.
If the newbies want to get in the Best 22, bust your gusts out.
Sounds to me know one did that at all.
Claro will be pissed.
Well done RENOUF.

Well pass me the Kool-Aid, Mr Jones.

Your disdain is poorly directed. As I have already posted today, I don't bear him any ill will, I just don't think he is much of a league footballer. I want him to do well, I just don't expect it.

As for my "motivation"; please spare me your visit to the high horse. I'm not interested. I have an opinion - that's it. To infer a "motivation" from it is just high handed nonsense.

I guess we have our share of dipstick Hawthorn supporters.

Crap news on your injuries.

Glad Wells did wells.

thanks guys !
Wells from what i read was awesome for you guys !!
good luck for the h&a season and i hope the membership numbers build up for you guys too , i never want to see teams merged or folded ever and i did not want that when it looked that way couple of years ago .

We've got a few ...

Yes, but because we had a long drought in ruckmen and we went nuts recruiting them hoping one would come good and two have become very good. It did cost passing on someone like Bartell for Hale. Once you get in those ruts in a position, especially with bigger guys it can be expensive to get back in the game.

I just felt if Hawks went after Jolly instead of Burgoyne then they would have been in a much stronger position overall and 9 and Williams was going to be better than anything Collingwood had to offer.

Spot on. I was pissed we didn't go for Jolly and the Filth got him relatively cheaply. Still, we're yet to see Burgoyne, and I'm pretty optimistic about our midfield with him there.

But our inside mids will be working overtime with the lack of developed ruck stocks.

Yeah, trading is a wonderful thing in hindsight.

For mine, if Hamish really was on the table in 2008, he would have been your best fit.

I think we will get around the 30k mark again which isn't too bad because we just have the 11 and 16 game memberships, we would have a bit more if we kept playing games interstate or if we had small game package options.

I think 30k at this point in time is about where our sustainable membership level is at which is a big improvement on the low 20s of a few years ago. We would get the bandwagon effect when we started to become a premiership contender, but am happy at the progress, it takes time to grow the supporter base and think importantly we have a pretty good admin in place now.

My only concerned about Burgoyne is that he has had a lot of injuries over the last few years, can be tough on the mature guys having injuries, especially leg related injuries. He is real quality, just not sure if he will every play like he did in 2007 ever again.
