North Melbourne's Second round pick....

thats a crap deal.... North Melbounre will be laughing!

What - do you mean a club other than Collingwood is trying to give up crap and get a decent player.... surely not.

That's about Scotland's worth.

I've jumped up and down at his lack of opportunities at Collingwood. He's effectively competing for Buckley's spot and his main weakness is his inability to play positions outside of a centreman role.

I'm a big fan of his, but concede it's time for him to move on.

Assuming Norf is the destination, he'll fit in very easily with Laids at the realm and will be a very good player for Norf. I'll be supporting him in any game not affecting Collingwood.

Pick #24 is pretty good in return for a guy who's been playing a lot more for Williamstown than Collingwood of late.

Its a little light on but not far from the mark. I'd rather swap for a player than a second round draft pick - then you know what you are getting. He will be used in a package to get a better player or better pick.

I would have thought Scoots would be involved in a trade involving Gilbee.

exactly. or he still might end up in a swap to get Stevens.

First you slam what I said in one post and then you go and agree with me in the next.

How embarassing for you. ;)

You were implying its a REALLY good deal for Collingwood. You didn't say it was a fair trade.

You said it was a good price, with a poor and factually incorrect argument.

I said it was fair and supported my contention well, sighting his lack of opportunities (despite playing the last 15 or so games for Collingwood, he's usually held back by Buckley).

He's a solid AFL level midfielder, who has often played his best football against Adelaide! :p

I'm not suggesting North Melbourne would be getting ripped off. (Are we talking a hypothetical trade here or is this deal supposed to be going through today?)

But I would think as a general rule, most sides would be happy to trade a fully developed player - in this case a 23yo midfielder - who can't cement a spot in their best 22, for a mid-range second round draft pick.

whatever. He was well established in the best 22 of the second best team in the land, despite having a surplus of players of his ilk.

(note: my stats came from the unreliable sorce of figjam'smadeupfacts.com.au)

he is well worth a second round pick.

Apparently the Bulldogs have stated that Gilbee is a required player - there was something along those lines in yesterday's H-Sun.

Having said that, I'd enjoy having Scotland at the Bulldogs, if that was the case, but I don't want to part with Gilbo.

Call me picky

He played in Collingwood's last 6 games - not 15.

That was after playing 4 of the first 19 games.
He played the last 14 in 2002, hence my confusion.

Suffice to say, he's in our best 22 in a side with a midfield as good as anyone's except Brisbane. He cemented his spot, with the likes of Woewodin traded in and Holland lifting a gear.

His stats in the run home don't look half bad either, considering he'd have spent time on the bench in every one of those games!!

All the more reason to trade him for younger talent.

But I've suddenly lost the energy for this argument. So I'll just agree to disagree on whatever it is we're disagreeing on.

His inability to play outside the centre is a concern, but I wouldn't be against trading our 2nd round pick for Scotland. A 2nd round pick slightly favours Collingwood, but a 3rd round pick clearly favours North.

But I'd prefer to use the 2nd round pick to get Guerra.

I'd be happy to do a deal with North, great club for Scoots to move onto...he should do well. 2nd Round pick would be plenty.

I think plenty is an accurate description.

I predicted our interest in Scotland ages ago. Getting a raw deal, Laidley just coming from Collingwood, maybe at odds with Scotland's lack of chances in his time at Collingwood etc.

Pick 24 is over the odds IMO. He is not a kid anymore, he isn't just going to walk into a midfield role at North and we have 8 000 blokes who have had to wait thier turn for a serious crack at a midfield rotation already on the list.

I rate him, but I hope Skelator doesn't lose the plot.
