Theres at least six clubs keen for his services. Zero chance of him "not costing too much". Probably the hottest available property left in the market.

There may be 6 or 8 clubs after him......he certainly isn't worth giving up a top draft pick for him...I'd be livid if we even contemplated doing it.
He may be a good player but he has some serious baggage, baggage that every club and supporter has seen on national television.....Shaw is at the point of no return with Collingwood. Your club is desperate to offload him.......it speaks volumes.

Unfortunately... Channel 7 Sport just reported that the cats are front runners for Heath Shaw...
Shaw was my favourite Pie player in 2011. I wouldn't be unhappy to see him in blue and white hoops.

Furthermore the fact that Shaw is contracted almost works against the Pies in this case. Shaw will only agree to move IF he is happy with the club and deal he is being offered. This removes some serious bargaining power for Collingwood and they will know it. Shaw can effectively tell Buckley and MCGuire, "**** you, I'm going to X team and X team only". X team can then turn around and say, "we're only taking Shaw for a 2nd rounder". If Collingwood really want him gone there's not much they can do about it...

What happens if one of Geelong and Hawthorn land him, fix his attitude problems and he recaptures his best form?

This thread would be great to revisit...

I did think that but I can't see me changing my mind about him. I just don't think he would be worth what it will cost us

Somebody raised a good point before...

I wasn't really referring to the cost in $$ or other picks - just don't see him being cohesive to the team.

The more I think about it, the more I'd like it to happen... as long as it doesn't cost us Adams.

It's one or the other, won't be both. If Heath is coming here, likely means Adams is going there, maybe even in the same trade.

If he's such a star why do Collingwood want to get rid of him? Usually clubs will put up with a certain amount of 'attitude' problems if the player is truly a Star!!

If this was the end of 2010 maybe I'd agree
Yet Geelong wanted to get rid of Johnson. He mustn't be a star then?

22/23 at the time.

Again for me it's a simple yes/no proposition. Are we a better side with him? Yes!

Heath Shaw is still an absolute gun, but I also don't want him for the price tag he'd command (both in trade and salary), and for the mixed messages it would send our with our list management.

Having said that, if Heath comes to us for 300-350k a year, and a second round pick, **** mixed messages, welcome to the blue and white.

He fits out FA strategy to a tee. So I've no problem there... If somehow the pies are willing to part-pay his contract we could make out like bandits. His no show at the B&F would seem to suggest he's not going back.

The other big yes/no is will he help our side win their next premiership?

Good players generally do.

Not sure about your list management stuff but Heater is a gun player and he'd be a great player for Geelong.
I think your contract and trade value are on the money as well.

This is great.

Hawthorn and Geelong fans playing the "you take him.....No, you take him" game.

Hot potato.

Pretty funny really. No doubt guy can play and reads play well but we have a no DH policy. Even with that in place, we are full of our own DH's.

Cant see needed to add more..

Go Catters

Yeah, but likelihood is that one or more DH's will retire in next few years - we need to maintain a quota of DH's to maintain equilibrium.
