Boys the HDFL is having a ''Sunday Football Show'' on Sunday August 5th at the Warehouse nightclub. Match reports, interviews, auction, quiz and much more. Tickets $10 each including $1.50 pots from 12 to 1:30 and 4 till 6 so plenty of value should be a good day. Profits from the day get pooled back into the clubs who support so get along. A salesperson will be set up at each club to sell the tickets.

Sounds like a good day On The Money, we have Broady in Broady and were planning a Casino trip afterwards but might need to rethink our plans. Looking forward to it.

See what I mean :thumbsu:

I think your spot on Doon, this could be the biggest conspiracy that we have seen on Big Footy for a while. It's a bit sad that he has to have two identities, just so someone will agree with the Big Ump. I tell you what though that RWB should be a coppa, he's worked that out well for a numbscull.:thumbsu:

That would be numbskull wouldn't it dopey. Be carefull not to get put into the same basket as the Ump, er I mean the Velvert, umm Rat. kung Fu Sing might need medication for his Schizophrenia, do we have a doctor on line?

Could you do a better job with those players old man?

Couldn't do any worse than they already have. I could guarantee one player would not kick 26 goals anyway.

I would also suggest the senior club start looking at keeping more kids from their junior club in a Huntly jumper, instead of letting the better players go all the time.

That is, start paying the decent locals a bit more, and there are some, instead of paying big bucks to big duds. eg Manley, St.Clair, Tarrant etc etc.

They need guys who are going to stay a minimum of 2 years to start with. Build a winning mentality, with more onus on the players themselves to fix up the club. Plus accountability, dedication and helping out your mates is pretty much how a club should be on and off the field.

I was just wondering if they actually have any set plays, offensive/defensive set ups etc. If not, he isn't a coach's a-hole. They are the fundamentals of how football is played these days.

The Hawks are so far behind everyone else that it would be a mammoth job, and one I would accept, though I haven't coached at a senior level, but have assisted at reserve level, and have coached kids.

Does anyone from Huntly FC know who is the contact out there for coaching jobs? Most likely the Pres, but I don't know who is out there these days.

had the chance to have a chat to billo one arvo, and he stated he only had around 1200 smackers to work with a week, if this was to be the case, i dont think many people could do much about it.
maybe emu you can put your hand up for the coaching job, considering youve been around country footy for a while now. sounds like you have some ideas. maybe you could implement them at trickey's diesel oval???

If the 1200 is right, they won't be going anywhere in a hurry. they need that social room up and running as quick as possible.

Have a word to RWB on the side Hill Bully, and see who your true friend is.
In simple terms his east & west is a bit LOOSE?????????:thumbsu:

If you are so smart why is a Boxing ring square, answer that?????:)
When you use a quote from the McIvor Times you had better let them know. Plagiarism (ring me if you don't know what it means) is a serious offence. We might struggle again this week Singbad, what's your thoughts, and then maybe you could go on as your alter ego the Blackvelvert and give us his thoughts.

Doona, tell me you haven't turned into another one of the Ump's alter ego's. You better have a crack at editing that last quote:D How is the great Chadda Heathcote going, have not laid eyes on him for some time, the old Chompitty Chomp. Magnificent set of fangs on the old bloke but a legend just the same.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!! A little birdy, or a young Heathcote netballer told me, whilst pissed, the Big Ump aka Blacckvelvert has been setting up BF accounts on their behalf and telling them to back his comments up and when people have a crack back, stick up for him.:confused: So Big Ump maybe you do only have one alias but you are gathering quite a little posse I'm told.

SHAME,SHAME,SHAME, Big Ump, I thought more of you. OOPS no i didn't:D:D:D

Well 1200 isn't much. How did they afford Geary, Manley and guys like that? I would have thought money-grabber Manley would have wanted at least 1/4 of that for himself.

If 1200 is the case, then no wonder it is a battle. Still, I would love a coaching job, but I would think that experience would be against me. The first thing I would do though, is try to chase back the 17-21yos that have left the club and are playing twos in the BFL. I am sure $50 a game is better than nothing, although they may not think so. I am also sure some kids at the uni wouldn't mind $50 a game. Again though, it is whether you can talk them into heading out to Huntly. It is only 10 minutes in the car and if you can get a few of them to travel together it gets them to gel more, and is cheaper.

They pretty much need a coach to do it for next to nothing, and I would do that. Petrol money would be enough for me. Dunno what Billings is paid, but that money could go to players then. Petrol money would be maybe $100 a week. Billings would be getting $1000 a week wouldn't he? That saves over a grand a week if he is getting that.

I would think most of the top 5 HDFL clubs would be paying out around $3000 a week, but only Doona would probably know that, and I am sure he wouldn't want to delve into the club's financials here. It would be interesting to know how much Huntly do spend though. I would be wondering where the $1200 is going at the minute.

If you can get maybe 3 guys on $300, another 3 on $200, half a dozen on $100 and the rest of the senior players get $50, that is $2,600 a week. I am also sure the Huntly officials would just like to win a few games at least to start with, and would need a couple of years, probably 3 at minimum to get back into the finals, and that is where you need to try to keep a good nucleus of players if you can.

Whoever takes it on is in for a tough ride, but they are starting at the bottom so can only try to instil some pride in the club itself.

I may just look into it yet.

Sounds great in theory but i think you'll find you'll be surprised what the kids from the uni ask for. Buying footballers is hard because they inflate their prices so much. Blokes get paid too much compared to footballers 15-20 years ago but if you don't get them, you get no-one. Good luck!

Thats the way blackvelvert, you even spell like me you have had a good teacher.
I take it back you have done good:thumbsu:
Just give us both your personalities thoughts on the game against Locky this week because it's mothballs if we don't win. You could give us Dirty Rats as well and take some notice on what you were told earlier and stop talking to yourself:thumbsu:

You're right there, and that's the problem with the whole thing. Can you get players to a club that:

a) Has no money
b) Doesn't want to spend money
c) Hasn't been competitive for quite a while

If a kid wanted to get paid, I would want to talk to him personally and know where he is from and what level he had played at. It wouldn't be hard to follow it up. The internet is a wonderful thing.

I would like to know more about it. If a player gets more than $300 a game in the HDFL, apart from the coach, then that's a problem. I know there are examples, but they are there to win a flag (eg Dalton). I don't think Huntly would be expecting a flag for a few years if they are totally realistic.
