Hit form at the right time of year but Broadford will be choc full of confidence after last week. Tell you the truth, struggling to separate them. Into the new venture yet?

3 weeks away..

not impressed with the timing as it all falls during HDFL finals which means the games i see will be limited.
was hoping get watch a couple with smacka.

must say although we had our pants pulled down by your boys doona, it was good to get into the rooms and swallow a few beverages with yourself and a couple of other lads. place is headed in the right direction as far as im concerned

Always good to chat mate, we seem to share similar thoughts on footy :thumbsu:

I hope it wasn't your car RWB is referring to that made the now infamous pit stop in Heathcote on the way home :D

You're right Trotty, the RDFL was no good back in the day. But it has improved ten-fold. Two excellent general managers in Neill Sharpe (now at Western Jets) and Scott McCartney (former East Perth in WAFL) have been revolutionary for the competition. I'm only 20-years-old but have been at every RDFL grand final since I was four. All my family played for Lancefield, dad, uncles, grandfathers etc. It would be good to catch up with you though champ :D I don't know a lot about Broady but learning very quickly from Doon and a couple of others. The more I know about the Roos the better the articles I can write for you.

All your family might have played at Lancefield but football skills did not rub of on you, what i've been told from a person who is connected with the Lancefield football club:D
But really the RDFL have a lot of ground to catch up with the HDFL for
(1)HDFL has gone forward in bringing sides in when a couple went their own way
(2) HDFL do not have to escort their umpires of the ground to me that say's the HDFL and clubs are in control of their spectators
(3) HDFL are in control of the clubs that play in the HDFL, from what i've been told the RDFL struggle to control some clubs.
Come up to HDFL finals and take back some ideas to the RDFL from a league who is going from strength to strength:thumbsu:

I think I'm THE WORST player EVER to pull on a pair of footy boots champ. As for the comparison of the two comps, once again I'll reinforce that the on-field is very similar, its just the off-field. The RDFL have complete control of their clubs so that's not entirely accurate. The RDFL has its own umpires association and can field field, goal and boundary umpires in each game. Obviously the Riddell comp is still classed as "metro" and the population of the towns is far superior to most HDFL club towns. I will be at Toolleen on Sunday and any other Broadford final should they advance. I thought the grand final was good last year at Colbo, but nothing on ours.

From all reports the Umpires Ass pluck most of their Umpires from the back streets of Footsgray a lot of room for inprovement i think you must agree.
Tell me if this is correct did A James have lumps on his head from spectators throwing rocks at him and another time did people spit at him that time he retaliated to me if these facts are true the RDFL have no control over their clubs

Only a handful of umpires come from oustide the RDFL's boundaries. All umpires could be better, but if they were, they would be doing VFL, TAC Cup or AFL etc.

Aaron James did have rocks thrown at him by two people, who were later dealt with by the league. I can't recall anyone spitting at him but that hardly has anything to do with the clubs in competition. They even employ security for each final just to eradicate such dimwits.

He could never drink Doona. Drinks with Browny after the game (which is drinking suicide) when he knows the Dog has to get a lift home with his mum around 8 every Saturday. Dog pumps them into French like lolly water, French drunk and starts the Terry French Show which is actually great entertainment. Footy and a floor show all in the one day!!:D

give credit where credit is due, turkey has been putting on that same show for a very long time.

I was just making a point about the HDFL. Your comp is just as good if not slightly better than the RDFL, but falls away in some key areas. Firstly, there is a massive home ground advantage in the Heathcote league. Supporters don't travel and there aren't many rivalries. Secondly, the facilities at many of the grounds are pretty shitty. Especially the visitors rooms at Toolleen. How they even get a final worries me. Thirdly, the league doesn't promote themselves enough. I'm not talking about what Troy Auld does, because his stuff is great, but from an executive point of view there isn't a lot of leadership. Is the Heathcote District Football League just a second or third division (counting the LVFL) of the Bendigo league? Because that's how it is treated sometimes.

I think the Riddell league has a heap of stuff it can improve on, but in the off-field department, it absolutely blitzes the HDFL.

**** the rdfl!!

that league is the worst most unorganized league in australia!!

they dont even use sherrins!!! they use burleys!!
haha

that league is not far away from crashing!!!!

hdfl is as strong as it has ever been!!!

Hey Doona, what was the vote that night. For memory I think it was 5/4 for getting rid of the Broadford club, is that right? It had to be a 66% majority, does that ring a bell. I think I would be pretty certain in saying that Broadford is perceived fairly different to what it used to be, after all it was probably only the smallest minority which bought the club undone and every club has those people. It's just how they are dealt with. Always had some good mates down their and always will.:thumbsu:

i rekon broadford has the youngest list in the league by far!!!
all that crap from the past is the past so get over it!!! they are a good club with good people!!!

is that your basis for a league thats about to crash.. because they use burley footys??, ridiculous call...if your gonna pot a league your entitled to your opinion, but base it on some evidence or reason why you think it will fold...

both leagues are in simliar posititons growth and talent wise..

we (romsey) played broadford in a praccy this year in a highly competitive game were broadford won by a goal or two, both teams were similar on the day and have shown that the whole year with there ladder positions identical.

i enjoy playin in the riddell league just as i enjoy following the heathcote league purely because there both highly competitive comp's with passionate players and supporters, i think all the other stuff about long term growth and stability is all garbage...

hats off to both leagues, hope both final series are tight.

Well said,Hope your their on Sunday to watch H/cote and B/Ford do battle Poor old leon he doe's live in the past I hope your their also Leon so we can have a beer together, that's if they let you out for the weekend:)

I'm with the Spider web on the points system thing. Cannot, in any way shape or form see how it will be beneficial to the league. If it's not broke.... Get on to the Central Murray thread to see how well their system goes.

Like ROOTA#6 I to am from the central murray footy league. As stated previously on this thread the points system does nothing to even the comp up. Take a look at the Jock CAMPBELL ran BALRANALD, they are making a mockery of the system. Leave things as they are or give huntly a one off payment. The points system will only make things worse for the already struggling clubs.

Pickles, we all know you are a lover of country footy and you promote the game, which is great. However, you are cleary biased. You are quick to tell us how good the RDFL is but fail to see it's short comings. Your standard is NOT as good as the HDFL. I feel qualified to judge on this as i have played senior football in various leagues and have been to many of your games. Some of your facilities aren't great and you seem to have more trouble with your spectators. As for the grand final thing i think they are fairly similar.

In saying that it appears the RDFL is goinig ahead in leaps and bounds. You are right, you have some great innovations off the field and are obviously quite well ran now.

Anyway hopefully your opinion can be lifted of the HDFL this week when you travel to onion grass park, to watch your adopted side Broady and your good mate Bung.:D Just please don't go and inspect the visitors shed..:D:D

Leon is back better then ever!!!!!

i wrote that before i read yours.......
Yes its great to see Leon Neon back on the thread. Went and watched the Pies game last Saty and he is starting to get back to his finals form goes missing when u need him. Had a cert at the Valley last but were called off. See ya Sunday.
