Had an enjoyable chat with the "Bush Ablett" Kenny Beaumont on Saturday. 10 years since the Roos last won the flag and KB was after an update re: reunion plans & to talk about the good old days

It looks as though the Braodford vs Mounts clash in May will be when the 1996 will be catching up to wind back the clock that memorable day. Maybe Lake Boga has a bye so Rik Pumpa can come along, and also Peter Hunter who shanked a shot at goal in the dying stages!!!

Just joking but we're hoping for a fun weekend, anyone old Broady people out there keen to come along please let us know

Still no word from the Hillies get together at the weekend ? ?
Two more departures in Orr & Makepeace I see though.

Look for 2-3 more major signings at LBU this week.:thumbsu:

See Braodford landed the signatures of Sam Taylor (West Footscray), Joel Brown (Lancefield) and Joel Maurer (Hadfield), can anyone enlighten us with some info on these recruits?

Where are these guys off to Baz?

Hillies have got a young ruckman from melbourne and an on baller from the city as well. They have also aparently got a fella from Golden Square who was a KPP in their 2's and possibly played a handful of 1's games.

Springwood was it??? Went and watched Gav regualrly up there, was living up there at the same time and followed the Panthers at Caloundra

Hard to say 96 was a low scoring game full of errors due to the high level of pressure. Rik was an amazing player on the lead who woudlve no doubt been an asset had he not left the field

Demons sign key forward

Thursday, 23 February 2006

FORMER Golden Square forward David Edwards has taken on the position of assistant coach with Heathcote District Football League club White Hills.
Edwards will be an assistant to senior coach Brian Walsh, who was appointed late last month.

Edwards joins the Demons having won the All Seasons Bendigo Football League's reserves goalkicking last year with 46.

'‘We need a full-forward, and David brings plenty of experience," Walsh said yesterday.

‘‘He's going to be able to pass on a lot to the younger blokes at the club.

‘‘David seems to be really happy about the appointment and so am I."Edwards, 31, has previously coached Morwell East and Tooleybuc.

He has spent the past three seasons with Golden Square.

‘‘It was a really tough decision to leave Golden Square because the club is really on the up at the moment," Edwards said.

‘‘But I'm looking forward to the challenge of being involved with White Hills."Walsh has stepped back into the coaching caper after two years out of the game.

‘‘I'm really enjoying it after the two-year break," he said.

‘‘Coaching is what I love to do."Jim Angove will captain the Demons this season.

Angove had coached the Demons for the past three years - taking the side to consecutive grand finals in 2004 and last year.

He was set to do the job again this season, but had to stand down because of work commitments.

Surely the league is not that bad that a seconds player (Edwards) in the BFL can be a great signing as A/C.

Is Darren "Dan" O'Bree still coaching Heathcote? How's he going?

Just got off the phone to a very reliable source that Darren "Der" kilpatrick has indeed quit his coaching role at Violet Town because "Colbo look like winning another flag..." Expect the hoppers to name some more high profile recruits soon...

if colbo do sign some high profile recruits who's to say "der" will get a game. he would have to be mid 30's wouldn't he?
he may not be able to keep up.

Would have to b more to it surely, maybe the committee werent supportive, I know for a fact he asked them to ring a couple of very handy players for last season and they never did. It's not just up to the coach to recruit, the committee's need to be supportive and be great promotors of their club, something many forget in the day of the almighty $$$.

I heard today at work that former Roo Kevin Brown stood down as coach of DVFL club Watsonia last week, could he be returning to Harley Hammond Reserve??? Another DVFL player, Zeb Fleming from Thomastown has been rumoured to be returning for another go alongside cousin Daniel Fletcher at Broadford.

Also heard that Adrian Baker was rumoured to have met with B'ford president and coach, what a coup that would be along with Chris Dunne and Fletcher ....... the source wasn't overly reliable and cant get it confirmed locally.

Looks like the Dunne saga is over - clearance form back to Broadford in motion and also another Dunne, would that be a younger brother?

Yeah Chris' younger brother Tyrell who is a top young fella pretty sure will be first year in thirds.

I just hope that Chris can settle back in at home and produce good footy, and all those two faced people who had plenty to say last year (committee included) just let bygone's be bygone's and move forward for the betterment of the Broadford FNC.

2005 Roos' skipper Ray Rowbotham has been linked with former coach Ross Andrews and Nagambie on the KDFL thread. Would be a fair old loss to what was a light on Roo defence if this whisper proves true

Doona is it a whisper if the "coach" of the club he's meant to be going to is the bloke doing the post.?
Either he is going there or hes not.? Just ask Ross via these means.

Adrian Baker has put in for a clearance from Tonny to West Preston.

I think Edwards will be handy for White Hills he started the season at North Bendigo kicking 4 goals in one of the early games before returning to Golden Square to kick 40 odd in the reserves and a couple of games in the seniors including a 6 goal haul at Marybrough. So in White Hills predictament a guy with experience who can play a bit should prove worthy.

Have heard from a Roos official of an Oak Park player may be making the trip up the Hume each weekend for the coming season. Supposedly going to train with the Roos tonight.

on the money, you could be right there about edwards at w.hills.
i spoke to someone from g.square the other day and he said edwards would've played alot more senior games but could only train once a week.
he kicked nearly 50 from 11games and played the last four in the one's.

other news is w.hills should have some handy recruits training in the next few weeks that they hope to sign and colbo are seeming more and more confident about a big year this season.

Thanks Wheelbarrow, geez Doona I didn't think you were that gullible, how rumours get out of control. I must admit I have spoken to Ray, about water skiiing and drinking ******** and his new baby girl, that's about it.
In relation to KB going back to Broadford, you've got to be kidding. In relation to Baker going back I suggest that is never going to happen while Broadford is in the HDFL as they (HDFL) will simply not register him to play, in relation to letting by-gones be by-gones re Dunne, Doona you have goota be kidding. Footy may well be just footy but friendship is a bit more than that and he burnt all his bridges in 2005, I am amazed the same people who swore they would never have him back are the ones that chased him, absolutely f^%$en incredible !!
And Scotty, as for your impressions of Tills and Adam, at least they are 2 blokes that have the experience, recall Tills did play league footy and Adam has a wealth of experience and played 40-50 games in the Pies 2's. I think they will do ok and I for one wish them the best. Perhaps that's coming from me, one of the three coaches at Broadford in the last 2 years to get shafted!!!!! Maybe feeling a bit of symapthy for the brotherhood !!:p
