Roast Highly regarded players whose legacy has been ruined by their media careers

Even if that was true, who cares what happens off the screen. On screen he’s fine and is good asking questions or giving comments during games. He even tows the WA media line about WC doing no wrong so I’m surprised you don’t like him.

I cant believe you think he’s good. He can barely string a sentence together with his monotone rambling. Offers zero thoughtful insight. Just beige.

I don't mind Kane Cornes, I think he's one of the better AFL media performers, he has some hot takes to troll or get attention but most of his opinions are quite sound and reasonable. Unlike a lot of the other AFL media boys club he isn't afraid to give an unpopular opinion that might upset people.

I don't think he was that highly regarded as a player either, he played as a tagger so he was unpopular as a player just like he's unpopular in the media.
Plugger if somebody asked me who the Kane Cornes of BigFooty was I'd say it's you.

I'll take that as a compliment, I'd rather be the Kane Cornes of BigFooty than the Luke Darcy of BigFooty.

Nathan Brown makes his money exploiting other people, so probably him.

Presumably he needs the cash though. Shaquille O'Neal leaves a more bitter taste in my mouth. The bloke is a brilliant investor, no chance he ever punts when he isn't being paid handsomely to endorse it to others.

I rate that he seemingly is okay with his views being challenged. All part of generating discussion I guess.

Putting a positive spin on it.

Has there ever been a bloke who does all elements of the game better than Dunstall? One of the best players in history. With the media when he’s serious he’s very good, does the comedy very well. As an administrator he was responsible for Alastair Clarkson (correct me if I’m wrong).
Agree, but Bounce is beneath him. Absolute garbage show. It was rightfully canned at the end of last year, but apparently he lobbied to keep it on the air, so it got a reprieve.

Similar with Mark Wahlberg and Ladbrokes. Surely that bloke isn't so hard up for cash, that he has to come to Oz to do gambling ads.

I don’t think your legacy can be ruined with a sub standard media career, but it can be enhanced.
This is Leppa for me. He was a very good player, but to me he came across as a smug tosser with a chip on his shoulder. Similar when he was a coach.

But he's been brilliant in the media, I think he's great, one of the best commenting on footy today.
My assessment of him also went up after hearing his Sacked podcast.

I agree and also disagree.

Bounce has a place. I personally can't really stomach it but obviously some do. If they made it a bit more kid friendly and moved it's timeslot I think it'd be a great show for kids to watch. For what it is he does it well, but yeah not for me.

Cameron Ling
Matthew Pavlich
Kane Cornes

The list goes on….
I absolutely understand the issue with Cornes but I see him as a bit of a necessary evil to counteract the nauseating ‘boys club’ of other ex-players in the media who go to ridiculous levels not to criticise players even when their transgressions are clear to see.

Yes, he goes overboard sometimes, but others need to understand that they’re in the media now and their role is to critique the games and inform their audience, not to protect their ex-teammates.

Ahhh that's a very Hollywood thing, A lister does ad overseas, usually in a non English speaking country (but clearly not always), pockets a mountain of quick cash.
Because the ad is very market specific, or in a different language, no real chance of it being seen in the US and sullying their cred.
Japan used to be rife with it.

That show is an insult to his intelligence. He's better than that.

Cornes is a shocker. Just the worst kind of comment-for-clicks there is. Clearly doesn't even believe half of the sh*t he says, it's all just for attention or outrage.

You'd like to say his act has a shelf-life, but I dunno.

His dad has been doing the exact same act for going on 30 years, so expect he’ll be around a while sadly

I'm a big fan of Leppa also.
