Hill Bros: Stephen Signed/Bradley wants out

heard it reported that Brad had a heavily front ended 5 yr contract.

He had an awesome 1st year, injury/scandal ravaged 2nd year, awesome 3rd year. He might be getting less in years 4 and 5, but reckon the girlfriend excuse his manager has cooked up is probably just trying to squeeze more out of Freo (to our overall lists detrimate) or anther club.

**** him. If we can get a pick inside the top 6 for him i'd rather he leave.

Buy low, sell high.

We just seen the best season of footy he's going to play so lets go and get a great deal and move forward.

I could live with that happening. Another "Weller" deal would help set up club long term

Where is this front ended contract stuff coming from?

Has their been any media reports stating this or is it just BF scuttlebutt?
heard it mentioned by a media personality who was giving an opinion on the "girlfriend" excuse and how players (or their manaagers, who i believe is Colin Young in Brad's case) seem to have more power than they should in manipulating the contracts they signed.

Surprise surprise.
Young is one of those people that you could call dirty smart. Like a snakeskin salesman. Used an excuse that can look like sympathetic but really just a subtle dirty tactic for Freo to offer more.

The Original Hill! The OG.

Something about this makes me so happy, been watching this dude carve it up with us for 10 years and I'd love for him to recapture some of that form from his early days.

Role might need to change slightly with age but I think he's more than just the 'bullet train' so many shaped him as, dude can seriously hit targets on the lead or in the forward 50. Might be some space for him on the wing for him to make some impact.

Even with this alone I start tending toward the side of optimism, with a forward thinking coach and other new personell, I could handle losing Langdon and Hill if we get paid overs for them and get some quality in return.

Does Stephen’s signing consolidate BHill’s retention? Anyone actually in the know? Or do we just have to rely on parasite journos?

This is massive news for the club not only on the field but off as well. On field he is so important to our team, still easily top 3 at the club for skills and while has had some injury issues of late his games played record is incredibly solid.

Turns out some random was right.
I remember a few years ago I was talking to a random person in a Freo jumper, out front of the shops.
She was saying she hoped her nephew from Freo would do good on the weekend. She then said she had a nephew that played for hawks and another that played for Eagles. I smiled and politely said ok and walked off.

 And then it dawned on me.

Given the current way the AFL works, how can a player have too much power in signing a contract? They are merely one party in a two party deal. If the club concerned doesn't like the deal, don't do the deal.

Have to wonder why Shill signed now. No coach, Brad isn't sorted out, and has a bit of time to explore his options - though he might have already done that and got no interest..

I have always imagined Hilly to be very committed to the club, seems to genuinely love playing for the jumper.

I never seriously thought he would move but if he got his contract extended from one year to two (by looking) then smart play by his manager.

I wonder if Gold Coast moving their attention to Shaun Burgoyne has anything to do with it.

I wonder who folded first, did we up our offer? Or did Gold Coast withdraw theirs. We’ll never know.

Or all the outside talk was rubbish fed to gullible journalists who jump on anything story flashing a bit of legs like it's 3am.

Maybe the club was proactive about it? It's a pretty important time with so much uncertainty around. Hilly signing on sends a strong message to anyone that might be in two minds, including his brother.

To be fair he was always the less likely of the two to leave.

but journalism in footy has a very low bar for publication. A rumour, seems reasonable, another person "doesn't rule it out" and BANG, straight to print.

Very happy with this. lets hope he can get fit over the summer and come out round 1 firing.
Such a superb and imprtant player when he's up and flying. I think he got overlooked this year when talking about the players we were missing.
You put him in with a fit Wilson, Ryan, Alex Pearce and Hogan and damn we look a lot better all of a sudden.

How does our List Manager state "his best footy is in front of him", no wonder we want to replace him, he is del

Interesting Ricky Nixon tweeting Hill failed the GC medical and we also offered double the money?
