Hill Bros: Stephen Signed/Bradley wants out

We let him go. "Let him".

For pick 23. Absolutely unders but he wanted freo and only freo.

If you are on the fence about us doing right by Brad, when is so damn obvious we did.

Sorry your comment relly frustrates me. Ofcourse it was a good gesture. 23 for fk sakes, still irks me to this day.
To be fair, it was unders but at the time. Even most Hawks fans were saying 15ish (from memory). He was a purely outside winger averaging 17ish a game. Wasn’t world breaking stuff and there wasn’t much to suggest he would add 8 touches a game to become what he is today.

So why did the hawks screw over the Suns?

Most hawks fans saw it in him. If you remember we were pretty confident he was the better of the 2 brothers.

Anyway im just ranting at this point, he is a docker and like ive always said i see no reason why freo will give him up without a fight.

Relevance today?
You'll have to read the above comments.

I made a statement that the Hill situation is different to the Carr one. As if Hill were to leave for nothing right now like carr did freo have still had a good value out of the traded pick 23 as that was unders for the player you received.

Some posters question if we got unders or got screwed at the trade table. That actually makes my blood boil. Ive never been happy with what we got for brad hill so if a poster baits me with that crap im going to bite.

Your right though that trade has no relevance to this thread and personally i dont like talking about it. Its just one of those things that doesn't sit with me well. Sorry dude.

Not our fault you can’t seem to see the bigger picture and look at the trade in isolation.

Are you fking kidding me!

Look at how brad has gone for you guys. Got him right before he exploded.

Edit:
Ill add, well done freo for getting him at such a low cost. But no reason i need to be happy with the trade.

Swings and roundabouts mate. You guys essentially got a brownlow medalist for 9 picks less, right before he exploded.

Wow.

Self entitled much? Hawthorn routinely make out like bandits in trade, they only traded B.Hill for 23 because it suited their needs. Not because Fremantle fisted them.

Still, it is nice of the poster to bring his salty tears right here for us to enjoy and save us the trouble of searching for them.

Hawks have done well on trading, but they got eternally screwed on buddy

The perils of Free Agency.

They also won 2 flags directly after he left so........ the screwing was good for them? The got Ben McEvoy off the back of that compo pick, they have been a bloody well run club that do whatever bests suits them. They got James Frawley via Free Agency so they can hardly cry foul about it.

I'll be very disappointed if Billy left this year. That would be two A graders leaving the club in 12 months.
Surely his misses can stick it out in Perth for another year or two especially as Freo are emerging hopefully as a contender in the next 24 months.
We saw on Saturday how important he is to our ball movement.
The jungle drums are beating however.

I don't get this. Brad signed a contract and his other half had to be in on the deal. She knew of his circumstance fully. Now its "I'm Home Sick" or such other excuse. The contact is with Brad he gets the money to play for Freo not his partner. If she has taken off back to Melbourne that's her choice. Its about time the clubs took a stand and unless its to the clubs advantage "NO DEAL" stay and play out your contract.

Such is the plight of professional footballers in 2019. Never mind signing contracts for 500K a season, your girlfriend will always come first regardless of your flash in the pan playing career.

Brad Hill set to tell Fremantle he wants to be traded
Jon RalphHerald Sun

Brad Hill will inform Fremantle of his decision to officially ask for a trade as soon as Friday but the Dockers can still cash in on his three seasons at the Dockers.
Hill has every intention of playing in Melbourne next year, with his partner to move back home over summer and the star wingman expected to join her.
That decision could come when his management meets with Fremantle chief executive Steve Rosich this week when hereturns from the AFL’s chief executives conference on Friday.

But given the huge market for Hill in Melbourne the Dockers will still profit from the deal given what they gave up three years ago.
Clubs including Carlton, St Kilda and Hawthorn who are desperate to find out Stephen Coniglio’s decision could transfer interest to Hill if they miss out on the GWS star.
Fremantle was able to secure a second-round compensation pick (No.23) when Chris Mayne left the club on a four-year deal at Collingwood.
They traded that pick for Hill when the Hawks were desperate to secure additional selections to secure Gold Coast star Jaeger O’Meara.
Now after the second-best season of his career Hill would be clearly worth a first-round selection in a trade given he only turned 26 last month.
Carlton has a determination to trade its first-round pick (Adelaide’s No. 11 selection), with a pick around that mark likely to be required to satisfy Fremantle.
Clubs like St Kilda (pick five) and North Melbourne (pick six) would also face difficult decisions about whether to offer up early selections for Hill if he declared an interest in joining them.
Those clubs would likely secure later selections back from the Dockers in a trade but he would be an instant game-changer for clubs looking to shoot up the ladder.
Hill is the No. 1 metres gained wingman in the AFL (480 metres gained per game), is No. 1 for score assists (1.4 per game) and the No. 2 score assists wingman (6.1 per game).
His brother Stephen is a free agent, with the pair having expressed some interest in playing together at a new club next year.
Hill’s issues are based around family rather than the Dockers, having said the club’s win over Geelong last weekend was one of the best at his time in the club.
Fremantle has publicly said they will not trade him given two season left on his contract but privately are aware they will have to broker a deal.
The triple premiership player had his best season in 2014, when he amassed 23 possessions and a goal in a year where he won 449 possessions.

To lose Neale one year and then Bhill the next would be devastating for the club. And thats before we even get to Langdon and Shill.

Still, this situations if they are handled properly in terms of trading, can be an advantage for the club.
