as i recall Welsh had less possesions then hodge that game, anyway just a question how many votes do you think Rioli is on and how many do you think he will finish 2010 with a friend of mine said 10 now and 20 by end of year .. i laughed

surely this tripe belongs on the Hawks board??? Why not just start the same thread for every brownlow fancy???

and how well will Pdge poll in the first 7 losses??

You realise that by posting, you are just keeping it up the top of the main board *******....

I dont see the problem with threads like this. Sure starting threads like the Cyril for AA one* is a bit rich and this one was posted with brown and gold glasses on, but Hodge/Goddard/Ablett is being discussed quite a bit right now in talkback etc with barlow just going down for the season.

Its not hard to ignore the child who started it and discuss the topic on its merits. Or just ignore it.

IMO I dont think he got enough runs on the board early on. As the season has worn on and Hodge has become more of a media darling, he will have started to get more love from the umpires, but I dont think he was enough of a darling to get sufficient 1s and 2s in the first 7 weeks.

He did carry hawthorn during that time though.

*How it got 550+ posts is baffling!

We've only had 6 losses or the year. 4 of those were under 3 goals. HOdge was our best in most of them. Of course he was pretty good in 08 and got 2 votes so im not expecting him to win.

I'm aware of how well he played, I jsut dont think at that stage of the season, the umps had been sufficiently seduced by the media's portrayal of him. Lets face it, the medal is a popularity contest.

Besides, in any of rounds 2-7, he can only hope for 1, maybe 2 votes at best, we were terrible.

Hodge is deserving of it this year. I reckon Chappy & Goddard are a strong chance though, and as others have said Barlow would have been up there had it not been for injury. Ablett has been very average this year by his own standards. Also Judd's been out of form recently, and with his early suspensions i can't see him figuring much this year.

Mark Thompson is doing his best to make sure Gazza doesn't win it.

Good, we will see him cry again then. Watched the 08 GF (again), and Gazza burst into tears when Hodge beat him to the NS.

There's no ne else in that team good enough to take votes from him. Hodge should have it wrapped with apologies to Ablett and Goddard who are surrounded by vote winners.

Ablett cried because he was BOG in a losing GF and none of his teammates showed up bar Selwood.

He wasn't BOG, but he may have cried because he thought he was as you say, but it was probably more just the loss.

Campbell Brown cried because he couldn't get a touch in a H&A match.

Why go to the trouble of trying to correct someone else if you're just going to make up shit yourself like a child?
......

Hodge's chance will depend on how many votes he can get at the start of the year, which probably isn't many. Also a chance to get reported by the end of the year as he generally does.

There is no team in the AFL this year that relies more on one player than Hawthorn on Hodge. He has something like 6 BOGs and if he wasn't there they would be closer to 4 and 10 than 8 and 6.

Hawthorn should win enough games and Hodge should poll enough votes with no real competition to win.
