Toast HOF (Anthony Stevens) and Legend (Malcolm Blight). Congrats to two North greats!

Can't say much more than everyone else already has, but these two blokes epitomise NMFC & AFL Legend Status.

Equally as important, if there is such a thing as a karma bus then it drove straight through Jabba the Hutch's fat noggin last night. The timing of the North Melbourne FC dominating the AFL Hall of Fame couldn't have been more precise.

Love ya Stevo!

The pic capturing Leigh Mathews showing his respect for Stevo that I have in the frame alongside his signed final game jumper from that match Hojuman. You're absolutely right, every player went out of their way to show our great warrior the same respect.

Was a shame our own players couldn't show him the same respect as they rolled over and got done by 20 goals.

I've never been so angry at a game. Pissed off that most of the players sauntered around and went through the motions, watching Stevo bust his arse one last time.

Memories now flooding back of Arch's last game in the prelim versus Port at Footy Park. *shudder*

Well done lads - i know both of them personally and both would be humbled by there respective accolades. i wore #15 on my back in the mid seventies on my duffle coat as a nipper and only changed to the #4 (ross glendinning) after my idol had finished. Stevo is just the embodiment of a Shinboner... loyal to the very end. Luv ya Stevo

Onya Stevo. Great player. Tough as nails. Committed as ****. Integrity coming out of his ears. VC of one of the best sides to ever walk onto a footy field.

He deserves his place in the HoF as much as anyone.

Same, tho it was the early 80s for me. Blighty is a legend of the game even if some of that legendariness hurts.

Barry Hall nothing but a thug. Very poor inductee selection IMO.

He was a premiership winning captain.

Kicked nearly 750 goals. Led the goal kicking at 3 clubs, kicked 100 goals for 3 clubs (I don't think anyone else has done that).

He might have been a thug but he wasn't just a thug. I dunno if he deserves a place in the HoF but he was the first captain of a Sydney premiership side (and won ntheir B7F earlier,) so I can understand why the AFL thinks he should be in there.

Barry Davis is in there. He moved clubs then captained us to our first flag and won the Syd, tho he did it twice.

Good for him. He also had a tough guy reputation based entirely on dog acts without many highlights involving real (ref: Anthony Stevens) toughness in winning the hard ball, going with the flight etc.

He also enjoyed tribunal immunity with the COLAs that otherwise should've denied him the chance to even be on the field in the 2005 grand final.

Didn't send off Spud, Boomer and Peach in one to remember either...

Night sweats ahead FFS!

It's actually appalling to send off so many great servants in such a manner.

If only all send offs could replicate Flossy's.

Blighty , Greig and schimma were my first heroes - all with different skill sets but all so beautiful in what they did.
Imagine him now - they gush over buddy and he can't even mark - would be the player of the afl now.

Stevo - the respect I have for this guy I can't even put in words.
He got in the team as a tagger and ended up us the gun onballer of the team. Never shortsteppled a contest in his life and gave his all - really was the anti-wells where injuries were involved.
He got the most out of his career - squeeze every bit out.

The thing I'll never forget is his cheeky grin and when we kicked a goal , you'd see stevo go over there and pat them on the head

Two legends in my book

Loved the comments about the culture at North. Didn't need anything other than each other. That sums it up.

No disrespect to Goodwin. Ordering the three isn't clear cut. But Schwass and Stevens have waited for more or less another career's length of time but Goodwin goes straight in almost as soon as he can. Seems odd. IMO Schwass in particular suffers from the giant shadow of teammates like Carey and Lockett. He was an outstanding footballer and a fine man who has done great things since his retirement. He should be in the Hall of Fame.

Thought the same and could only think that his coaching contribution also counted towards the outcome. Not all are cut out to be good enough to make AFL player then leadership / coaching. Fair effort.

So happy for Stevo - was a gun in a rare era and a great bloke.

This should form part of our current training ethos.

Blight took his game to a new level under the disciplines imposed by North Melbourne coach Ron Barassi; and he also benefited from competitions with teammate Wayne Schimmelbusch where they tried to make the fewest mistakes while training flat out.

Was Barry Davis an arseh*le?

Heaps of names on the HoF list were arseholes. Once upon a time everyone on a footy field was an arseh*le. But Leigh Matthews is an official legend and Dermet Brereton is in the HoF. Personality doesn't count and football has always had "thugs". The AFL put video of Daisy Thomas knocking out Adam Saad on the weekend under the heading "Daisy the Enforcer." Thats how much players like Hall mean to the AFL.

Anyway all I said was he was more than just a thug. And he was. He was also captain of the first ever Sydney premiership side.

Of course he'll end up in the hall of fame.
