Hook disgraceful on FoxFooty

The look on Hook's face said it all. Good on Shaw for putting him on the spot - some of the muddled **** that spewed from Hook's mouth was laughable. "Well we, y'know, at the end of the day, the Hawthorn Football Club, y'know, we have done nothing, ah, nothing wrong..." Hawthorn have completely screwed Jade Rawlings, which makes clear the reasons Rawlings was keen to leave in the first place.

Every club is entitled to trade as they see fit, but the underhanded skulduggery that the Hawks have employed ought to be outlawed. Expect an inquiry.

Liam pickering was seething too; did well to restrain himself. Stopped short of telling Hook where to go.

Officially the most blatant set of lies I have encountered in football.

Awaiting Hawk wrath, may it be swift.:)

Funny how in Kangaroos fans eyes it's a case of the Hawks screwing Rawlings. Whose decision was it to leave the club? Whose decision was it to tell the world he was going to play for the Kangaroos? This is all Rawlings' doing, the Hawks were simply trying to make the best of a crappy situation for them under the ridiculous trade rules set down by the AFL.
The Hawks were under no obligation whatsoever to trade with the Kangaroos, and they simply decided not to.
Hook is absolutely correct, the Hawks have done nothing wrong. I've heard the term, "contrary to the spirit of the rules". Sorry, but no court in the land is going to be too interested in the "spirit" of the rules. If the rules are in place, and the Hawks were working within the rules (which they were), then nothing can be done about it.
If you are awaiting Hawk wrath, you will waiting for a long, long time. As for Hook's manner on television, that is just the way Hook is. He would come overr like that if he just won X-Lotto.
And as for Pickering ... who gives a rat's toss bag if he's upset.? He's the one who gave his client Rawlings all the bad information, he's just annoyed because he's done himself out of some extra cash through being stupid.

Hook has an appalling record during his time as football manager, and this week confirms it. Some atrocious trades. Trent Croad better than pick 10, you must be kidding me.

However, if North could't come up with a better deal that's not Hawthorn's problem. John Hook's job is to look after the Hawthorn football club, not Jade Rawlings.

I will find out over the weekend, but I will bet anything that we DID come up with a trade that most would view as superior to Danny frickin Jacobs, but Hawthorn were hell bent on:

a) Getting Jade to a club other than his no.1 choice

and

b) Not dealing with North directly, and if possible not dealing with North at all.

IMO, he has NOT looked after Hawthorn's true interests, for he knocked back a deal that would have improved the list a darn sight more than they have right now.

The Hawks are only accountable to their own members so it is up to them to judge if they have got the best deal for Rawlings.
However, if they lied or cheated then we should be told so - the AFL are already saying there will be an enquiry and the whisper around is that the dreaded "restraint of trade" card is being mentioned ($$$$$$$ for legal eagles).
The Hawks may have started something that will change the face of football forever.
Let the Hawk members be the judge of their Club's decisions.

In all trades to this time Clubs have been able to get their disgruntled players safely traded to a club that the player has been happy with - maybe not their first choice, but certainly not one thet definitely didn't want to go to.
The Hawks have turned new ground, ground that I hopre my club never does.
The Hawks were deliberately spiteful, and this says more about the state of the club than anything else. Like Collingwood in the past, they live on their glory years, expect every man and his dog to want to play for the club and have lost the understanding of what is needed to win a flag.
Get rid of the old boys club in the boardroom, get a coach that can coach and have players that want to play for the club.

First point. I remember Shane Woewodin screaming last year that he didn't want to go to Collingwood. There have been many others, people just don't remember them. You honestly think this is the first time this has happened to as player? Wake up.
Second point ... you hope your club never does? Well, if they haven't already, and I'm sure they have ..... they will.
Third point .... Hawthorn spiteful? It's amazing how everyone is so sorry for Port Adelaide because they lost Stevens without trading him to Collingwood, and yet because Hawthorn didn't trade Rawlings to the Kangaroos they are "spiteful"? What a load of horse menu.
Fourth point .... exactly what IS required to win a flag, letting go of required players and getting bugger all in return? It seems that is what you are suggesting the Hawks do. Doesn't sound like a recipe for success to me.
Fifth point .... if you insist upon rubbishing a club, have the guts to tell us who YOUR club is. As you have omitted this information, your suggestions as to how a successful club should operate are worthless.

Has the draft or the cap ever been tested in the Supreme Court? From where I sit why cant a player go where he wants and for how much they will pay. Restraint of trade on face value is very broad. Can anyone tell me if the draft or cap been tested?

I can hear Sheedy now - "..... the hawks are stuffing up football"

Good one sheeds!

Rawlings wanted to go to North for family reasons.

I wonder if you'd have the same opinion if Rawlings was from Perth, and wanted to be traded to Freo or the Eagles for other family reasons, such as to be closer to a dying relative, and Hawthorn did the same thing to him.

And the irony isn't lost on me that the same club who totally disregarded the family based wishes of a good servant of it, calls itself "the family club".

Simply, the Hawthorn football club treated someone who gave them many years of brilliant service, with absolute contempt.

An absolute disgrace!

Rawlings wanted to go to North for family reasons.

Rawlings wanted to leave Hawthorn because he was unhappy with the contract offer. Then after considering Geelong as a new club he eventually nominated the club where his brother was playing as his preferred destination.

LOL. Many years of brilliant service? That describes Carey, not Rawlings. Rawlings was never brilliant in any season.
Bombers laughing all the way.

With all due respect, the Hawthorn Football Club's number one priority should be to negotiate the best deal possible for themselves.

They desperately wanted to keep Rawlings but when the decision was made to leave the club, it then becomes the hawks most pressing matter to get us much for him as they can.

The problem here is that they have overlooked some seemingly better options to send Jade to his perferred destination before accepting an inferior offer.

From memory the Kangaroos played hard ball with Freo and got themselves a very good deal when Bell announced his intention to return to Perth. Similarly in this case, Hawthorn have held out to the last day but North didn't cave. Why exactly they didn't accept the roos' best offer and instead take the course of action that they did is what has surprised a lot of people.

Hawthorn owe Rawlings nothing. He has only really had one particualrly good year for them and is leaving for money, while still relatively young. He can't tell them he's gonna leave and then expect them to try and do whats best for him.

And a relative ain't dying. If it happened in a situation like that it would be disgusting, but it ain't

So Danny Jacobs is a better deal than Corey Jones (who will likely be better than Danny) AND pick 9? It's pretty frigging obvious that Hawthorn had no intention of doing what Jade wanted. Some might say that's fair enough, but they've gotten themselves a worse deal than they could have with us.

First off, Bell is a superior player to JRawlings and worth more.

North got less (Sinclair and #8->DMotlop?) than what they were asking for, and Sinclair was not their first player of choice. Unlike Hawthorn, they GOT THE DEAL DONE, and all parties were satisfied. They also had no problems when Carey, Schwass, McKernan, and Welsh requested to be traded to a club of their choice (I think Pickett too).

Don't forget this would never have happened if Hawthorn had offered JRawlings a three year contract in the first place (which they reportedly offered after he left). Hawthorn were obviously ****ed off with Jade, so they screwed him... and the Bulldogs gave a helping hand.

Amazingly Essendon seemed to have vultured off another good deal for themselves like last year... Yoda does it again. ;)

Screw you North Melbourne. Screw you Jade Rawlings. Thank you the Bulldogs for giving us a key position defender when you could have bent us over.

If you guys think Corey Jones is better than Danny Jacobs, you're pulling yourselves. I'm happy with what went down, and if Hawthorn and the Bulldogs are, that is all that matters. That is what happens when a player walks out and demands to go to a certain club. You can't get everything you want, Jade.

The Hitman

So Danny Jacobs is a better deal than Corey Jones (who will likely be better than Danny) AND pick 9?

Thats hilarious! Good on the Hawks, obviously they dont think Corey Jones will be a better player than Jacbos or else the deal would have been done. Maybe the roos should have realised they didnt have the anything worthy to offer so they shouldnt have made a commitment to Rawlings, their fault. Can I ask, who is Corey Jones??

We let Chick, McFarlane, Robran, Hall, Allan all go home for compassionate reasons and virtually jack **** in return. The Mergeroos were offering the same - jack. Why should Hawthorn get royally shafted again?

In hindsight, it was the Mergeroos who treated Rawlings with contempt by offering what they did. If they were trully keen on securing Rawlings, they would have offered Hawthorn value equal to what they were going to receive.

I'm sorry Soggy Biscuit, the Roos are the cause for Jade's misfortune, if you can call it that. An individual who will get paid $370k per year to chase a lump of pigskin around an oval. Yeah, he's really unlucky.
