Heard a rumor last nite that Edenhope/Apsley are after some big name players! And if the rumors are true they will be a force to be reckoned with next season. Tucker has approached a few lads from around the wimmera and if he can get them it will improve the team 100%. I cant name them as i have been told to keep my mouth shut. Hes chasing 4-6 players and i only got named 2 of them, when i can speak i will let u all know. Fingers crossed they can get them and make it a more competitive competition next year instead of seeing the same teams playing off in finals as we all are sick of seeing. We need every team to be competitive. Cant wait for '08!:thumbsu:

Steve shultz got off not taking the investigation any further. Edenhope must have a bit of money to throw around then! Long way to go and play footy and they will need alot more quailty players to be competitive next year! Cause they only have a handful this year!

just wondering if anyone travelling home from the stawell v horsham game in ararat on sunday happened to see "the bigshow" (shane Feild) spewing up in the gutter out the front of the western pub??? surely he and mick walsh are the only people keeping that pub open! All roumers are that shane is in the area to stay after a very romantic evening saturday nite/sunday morning, nice to hear the "good" form didnt stop after round 18.
Is there anyone else that believes Nathan Shalders is a chance for the league medal tonight? if i was him id b jotting down a few thank-you's just in-case, very underated and has been his entire 38 year career. For a bloke of his size, carrying that much weight to do what he does is a credit to the trainers at great western.

Hi there ross. How are you today. Just wondering if this tie i have found at my house is yours it is now shit brown colour dont know how that happened. By the way was talking to a friend of mine saterday she said she spent the night with you friday night and she said that 1 min just does not cut it for her, by the way have thrown out my bed and sheets.

How did the Dellar go this year??

Good count. Matt Ward won the medal from Tim Webb. Got me stuffed how he racked up so many votes. Nathan Sachse had a far better year than him.
But anyway.
Ward was a pretty deserving winner.

Yeah I agree he was a deserving winner, was amongst the best most weeks, it was just good to see that Webb didn't win it!! I think a few were suprised to see that Sachse didn't poll as many votes as one would have thought, he too appreared amongst the best most weeks, however umpires do see some things in a different light!! Great to see Spud Hurley be rewarded for another teriffic year finishing 3rd!!

I think the biggest suprise of the night was Great Westerns Nathan Shalders failing yet again to put a vote on the board! However I dont think that this necassarily had anything to do with the umpires seeing things in a different light but the fact that they obviously dont give out votes for the amount of pies one can eat!!

I think it should also be noted that Ross Panther failed to poll a vote!! Although if votes were awarded for efforts on the weekend then he would have been BOG on Friday night for his 27 second performance on one of the local lass's!! :D:D

She must really know what she's doing.

Enough of the Great Western talk. Grand final time on Saturday and it is the two teams that everyone expected to make it to square off.
Harrow had been undefeated all season until a loss to Kalkee in the major semi final.
Kalkee has grown in strength and will be freshened by a week's break.
SHould be a great game.
And I tip Harrow by 20 points.

could be a good game hoping I'll be there never been to a District league grand final, been to a final a few years ago and to a h&A game at Kalkee :thumbsu:

i tip Harrow/Balmoral just by 15 pts

Steve schultz will take this game by the scruff of the neck, and his brother grant will excel with the pressure of the game. kalkee looked like a lot more impressive unit two weeks ago at rupanyup, and should run away with the game...4 goals

Was at the game yesty and at half time i thought it was anyones game, but harrow came out and smashed kalkee brewer did his knee in the first 5 minutes, perkins was to busy worrying about throwing elbows and s shultz was the difference between kalkee losing by 30pts and not 80pts.the 2 ward boys simply ran a muck and penny had a day out as well.

kalkee kicked 11 goals 1 pt and 4 of those goals came from frees...
harrow was a deserving winner and by far the better team...

Well done Harrow, it is just proof that if you spend enough money eventually you will win a premiership.
Could struggle next year if the mail is right at Watson, M Ward and B Ward leave to play closer to Horsham.

might be on the cards penidin on the $$$ offered wherever they go all 3 will stay together as watson is married to the 2 wards sister.
my guess is that b ward will head to W.A and watson and his wife want to travel the uk for a year, which leaves matt who works with his old man so who knows..

I was also at the game and my opionon Bernie ward was extremley luck to recieve the BOG Medal. I thought Watson was by far the best player on the ground. I thought Jed Mclure would of been the next best.

Will be interesting to see if watson and the wards leave, even if they do Harrow will still be there abouts. I think they have played in 6 Grand finals in the last 9 years. A pretty fair effort.

I agree with you about Ward. I thought Watson was a star after a dog of a game in the preliminary final

Any talk of any star players heading out to the district league? Or any start district league players heading into have a crack at wimmera league

Heard nothing confirmed yet, I have unofficially heard of a couple of clubs making a run for Horsham premiership players. But it is hard to tell at this stage, the next month should be interesting, because I think there could be a little bit of movement at the station.

Have heard a little rumour that Great Western are chasing Julian Field to be their coach next year, can anyone confim or deny this? I thought he'd be heading back to Avoca if he intends to leave Redan.

I can say categorically that Julian Field will be playing at either Redan or Avoca next season. At this stage it could be unfortunate for Avoca that he may stick with Redan for one more season to try for three premierships in a row. I would say that at present it would be about 80-20 in Redan's favor.
There is no way that he will be coaching Great Western. This rumour has just been another figment of the Mothman's fertile imagination. Julian knows where the Avoca club is at this point of time and the Avoca club understand that Julian will know when the time is right for him to return to his home club. One thing that is also a near certainty is that when Julian leaves Redan he will pull on the number 16 jumper for the Avoca club.

I must add that he has been offered big dollar incentives to coach at numerous clubs. What some might not realise is that Julian manages a business that employs approx a dozen people and he has openly stated that he just wouldn't be able to find the time to coach at present.
