A great read, and it's really great that the club puts the time to do up an article such as this for the supporters and members. It really does help give the supporters an idea of what our club is doing in such a crazy week, especially when things come out of the blue. Agree or disagree with the discissions or 'cost' of some trades, it is good to see the reason why and thought process behind such trades, and helps us identify and feel comfortable with what the club is doing.

Thanks again to Lions_Insider, Kerr and the Brisbane Lions Footy Club for sharing this information with us.

Thanks, a very interesting read.

This bit caught my eye

On Friday evening, negotiations with Fremantle recommenced. They reaffirmed their offer of Pick No.16, and we again rejected it. However, within a few hours Fremantle made a concession, which we genuinely explored and considered. While we ultimately rejected that offer, alternatives were cavassed and I was confident that we were getting close to an agreement.

I wonder what the concession was...

I wonder who the other young tall we had looked at was... interesting.

Brilliant read though. I think the club is now definitely in front of most other clubs in terms of contacting it's supporters and informing us about what's going on, and giving us genuine information rather than just the lines that clubs often trot out to the media. I love it.

I think we had a great trade week, and that Rob and his team did a brilliant job. Looking forward to the draft and season 2012! And we'll just grab Kurt next year :p

An enlightening read. :thumbsu:

Position wise, good to get confirmation the intention is to play Zorko in Banfield's role, pushing Todd into the midfield, while it is interesting to note that Lisle should play forward.

I was also amused to note that Kerr sounds as pissed as we were about the Freo press release:

...and as a result the now infamous Fremantle media release - in which Mitch (a still Brisbane Lions contracted player) was quoted - followed

Although, granted, he was somewhat more reserved in his language than we were. :D

I wonder what the concession was...

Access to a pre-listed player from GWS me thinks, which they apparently later traded to Hawthorn (Hawthorn traded 29, 58 and 71 to Freo for 38 and 56, so unless Hawthorn got something out of it (i.e. pre-list player in Boumann) they would be losing out). Apparently Freo got access to it because of the Palmer compensation pick trade.

Great read, geez the communication from the club just keeps getting better and better, great work Rob Kerr, thanks for taking the time to communicate all of that to your supporters, its most appreciated.

Will wonder who the other tall we looked at along with Lisle. Oh well.

Cheers to the lions for putting up the article, great stuff!

Surely Mitch is up for some sort of sanction by the AFL for posting an article on a rivals website while still under contract. hard to see how he could get away with that.

Very likely Hooper. It was reported that Essendon were packaging pick 19 and a player for our Compensation pick to be used to get Josh Caddy from Gold Coast.

I wonder if Lions_Insider would go so far as to reveal if the Club has, or intends to follow up with the AFL on that issue? While it backfired on Freo, I'd hate to see the move repeated in future. Just incredibly poor form.

If GWS were able to get first dibs on Zorko as a pre-list player (which I assume he is allowed to be), I wonder if we would've preferred 12 and 47 like we do now, or 16 and 34 and Zorko as a pre-list player.

I had wondered that myself, but by the sounds of it Hadley's priority was getting pick 12 for that 'A-grader'.

And I wonder if QLD zone access trumps GWS previously-listed access?

definitely should be following this up. I would have thought that both Freo and Mitch should both be sanctioned for this. I'm sure the AFL wouldn't be too keen on this happening again, especially with free agency coming up.

While many supporters might ask if there is really much difference between Pick No.12 and Pick No.16, our recruiters’ view was a definite ‘YES’.

Probably goes a fair way to answer my own question (I hadn't read the article when I posted it).

I wondered that too.

A very interesting and comprehensive read.

I am very impressed with all the insight we are getting.

Going to make the CM pull their finger out to make sure they get their facts right.
Thank you to all involved in all the new initiatives, very impressive:thumbsu:

I'd like to extend a large thank you to LI for giving us info from the club over the last week or so. Absolutely wonderful the club has extended correspondence to its supporters. Personally think that Kerr did very well over trade week; brought a quality pick, well considered players and reaffirmed we will not be pushed over by players or opposing teams at the trade table. It's also great to hear that Redden and Polec are considered pivotal players in our next tilt. I'm sure we all think the same but it's good to hear regardless. Big question for me; Who does Hadley rate so highly in the 10-15 barrieR?

Along with my fellow 1000 lions supporters:p, would love to know who the other Tall was we inquired about.

Also enjoyed the fact Kerr and his team pretty much acknowleged that freo team are a bunch of dicks (Can't wait for a N.Riewoldt to be drafted by freo and he demand to be traded home ;)) nice to hear that Melbourne seemed to be happy to help where they could in the Zorko trade:thumbsu:

Melbourne my 2nd favourite team

Just read Dr Kerr's article. Loved it! What a champion. Spoken to like humans and not through the propaganda filter. Loving the club more and more these days.

Lions Insider is the best initiative I've seen from any clubs media department. I guess we'd best not abuse the privilege/relationship by asking too much of them, but just really really loving it.

Seeing Lions Insiders avatar on here is the first time I think I haven't felt a negative reaction to that logo... Could it grow on me? (Definitely not the mutated heraldry though... Just so wrong)

The club is on the up and up!! Only thing left now to fix is the Jumper. But I won't harp on with that (much) til 2013.

Besides what Kerr's summation actually says, it also implicitely says he has nothing to hide and has solid arguments to back his judgement. Good enough for me.

It also says to the rest of the AFL: no more easy beats at the bargaining table.

A very good start although final judgement will, and of course must, always rest on on-field performance.

Could not agree more. Then openness they are showing us makes me really proud to be a Lion.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Another thumbs up from me regarding the communication provided to members regarding our trading strategy. I feel even more confident in our rebuild following that read.

Gee the club has come a long way in its treatment of members over the last two years.

Now for that jumper.....
