Lets face it they only have handful of players deemed worthy enough of wearing the baggygreen. Compared to their team in '05' their are very few who would make the top test teams of the world.

I mean for a team to win the toss bat first make 400+ and come within hours of losing the match shows how much of a joke they are.

So I ask how many would get into the starting XI right now?

I have selected Pierstson, Flintoff and Strauss with Collingwood making the touring party but not the XI.

The rest are rubbish and wouldn't make the Indian or South African teams either.

Votes away...

Pietersen is the only one, Collingwood is good but we have the gritty-hardnut role covered. As was proven in the first test, our spinner is better than both of their spinners, so we don't need Swann or Panesar.

Swann and KP imo.

Swann is a much better bowler than what he showed in the first test.

Bopara needs a bit more experience and development, but would be one of those 'future' type players.

given the selectors obsession with an all rounder, Freddie and KP would get in... Swann perhaps as well, haven't seen enough of him... Perhaps Strauss ahead of Hughes too? So that's a maximum of 4 for me...

Yeah Swann is much better bowler than he has shown so far.

KP and Fred would walk in.
Fred of 4 years ago would...not the current version.
Hasn't made a test 100 or taken a 5/for in 4 years - even the Australian selectors would struggle to carry someone with those results.

KP walks into our batting line-up easily, Strauss would push Hughes for a spot and Swann is a better bowler & cricketer than Hauritz.

kp and flintoff definitely... i'd say panesar as well.

if he were australian he's be trained to bowl his natural game and be an attacking weapon - i feel that everything that made him so good has been coached out of him. i don't think that would happen in australia.

Hughes
Katich
Ponting
KP
Clarke
Flintoff (North unlucky, Flintoff cause of his all round abilities)
Haddin
Johnson
Hauritz
Hilfenhaus
Anderson/Siddle

Cook

Prior
Swann
Anderson

at least.
Not a chance, Swann maybe, but he isn't much better the Hauritz if at all, big step up from playing a rabble in the Windies, Anderson is not close too our fast bowlers, Cook is a laughable suggestion (at best) and Haddin is better then Prior

your opinion is all based on one test of course.

Swann is miles ahead of Hauritz as a bowler and avergaes 35 with the bat.

Cook is 24 and has 3300 runs and 9 100's he'll only get better. Doesn't have the obvious technically flaws that Hughes seems to have. Regardless If Cook was Aussie his first 3 years as a test player would have been enough to keep his place.

Anderson is the 5th ranked pace bowler in the world. Only Johnson is better.

Haddin-Prior is 50/50, both can bat and neither can keep. Prior is more solid for mine.

Why dont we wait and see at the end of the series.

.

Cook is weak outside the off stump, I rate him highly but when it comes to technique he is definitely flawed.

FWIW I'd have Swann for Hauritz, KP for Hussey and Collingwood for North.

Most players are weak just outside the off stump.Cook is one of the best young batsman around.

Just to compare when Ponting was Cooks age he had scored 1600 runs at 41. Compared to Cooks 3300 at 45.

How about we take Cooks runs against the West Indies out of his average and see how it looks?

And Cook is one of the weakest outside off you'll see. Very strong off the back foot, but you won't see him drive many through cover and the V off the front foot.

Anderson is a chronic under achiever much like Ian Bell. I have said it for a long time. There is no way in hell he would get a game for Australia when someone like Stuart Clark is sitting on the sidelines.

Anyone who suggests Hussey should make way for one of Collingwood or Strauss has a very short memory that's all I'll say.

Interesting to see everyones opinions and the poll results don't really surprise me.

People however who have suggested Cook, Bopara, Anderson or Prior are kidding themselves really!

Swann I can see people making a case for, I probably should have included him in the poll as an option.
