How much would you pay Josh Jenkins?

OK, question time

Who would we rather have, Tippett or Jenkins

I think it's pretty hard to separate them, Tippo can ruck better, but I think Josh is better at scoring
Costs is really the game changer, on current coin its Jenkins, without money it's Tippett.

I don't think it's that black and white anymore. I think he stacks up with Tippett, money being irrelevant. Certainly is more consistent and fits in well with our current structure. Tippett was a great contested mark but I do not miss the days of him standing in the goal square and us bombing to his head

While at the Crows Tippett had the oppositions' best key position defender on him.
JJ has the oppositions' second best defender as they usually worry more about Tex.

I rate Tippett as a better contested mark.
JJ a better kick (both set shot and on the run).
JJ a better team man.
Tippett a slightly better ruck.

IMO they break even in the ruck and JJ is the better forward as he does what a forward should do and that is consistently hit the scoreboard

Tippett is in a different league to JJ. He will give Sauce a massive test in 2 weeks time. I hate to say it but Tippett is a great ruckman now, his game has developed hugely since going to Sydney.

and again: He was an ineffective target inside 50, winning possession only 36% of the time he was targeted - ranking him 46th of the top 50 targets in the comp

Again: 14th highest goal scorer last year, a real possibility to finish higher this year, comparing him to White, Casboult, Brown, Dixon, Petrie, Walker his numbers stack up.
Earlier in this thread you said he is an ordinary player in his very ordinary category, or words to that effect, I can't be bothered looking for the exact quote. If we let him go to another team, who is out of contract and attainable as his replacement without paying a lot more for and give us immediate results?
I am definitely happy for us to give him more money and a 3 plus 1 contract.

Are you sure you understood the stat that I posted?

It means he was targeted more and needed more opportunities than virtually ANY of the top 50 forwards to get a result.

Maybe ponder that

Can't be bothered or made it up?

Who is the replacement? Simple question.

Here's the quote Sanders.
JJ isn't the type of player you think, and the actual type of player he is is a lot more common than you think. Post #121

well one wants to stay at the club, and the other (with the help of past admin) stuffed the club over and set us back X amount of years.

For half price, jj is easily better value.

You pay him and sign him for whatever and however long he wants

The key to a great side is their ability to work as a team
We saw Saturday how well this group work together

And they are only going to get better

If we're ignoring cash that's like arguing for Matthew Wright over Fyfe.

Agreed. Although perhaps not as extreme as Fyfe v Wright.

Tippett in our forward line over Jenkins would certainly be an improvement. And would give Jacobs a greater opportunity to sit forward for a rest which would be very handy with reduced rotations. Jenkins is fairly ineffectual in the ruck.

That said, very happy with Jenkins and absolutely keen to keep him around. Get it done early crows!

I am actually going to go Jenkins. Both players have their strengths and we play our game around those strengths. In our current style of play Jenkins is a much better fit. Loving his run and work rate.

The price difference between them is getting closer together.

How desperate will Freo be for a player like Jenkins?
I think this is Connors best bargaining chip. They will pay Jenkins $700,000 . While I think JJ would prefer to stay , even on less, its a mighty tempting offer.

Still a massive gap.

Tippett is on $1m.
We will end up paying jj half Tippett's current rate.

We basically pay jj & Betts combined the same as tippett & currently paying less!
