It is well known in footy circles that a team who loses their coach always comes out hard that week to play for the departing coach and show their ire at what they hope to portray an unjust decision. Yet as a team peaks in motivation and determination and hightens its levels of intensity, we usually see this drop off dramatically the following week.

Yet as a team peaks in motivation and determination and hightens its levels of intensity, we usually see this drop off dramatically the following week. Though Sheedy has not yet departed, the bombers will now find themselves on a steady but dramatic decline for a week or so as they attempt to rekindle the motivation and intensity levels that they played for only a week ago. It is this fragility and flatness that we will see in the Bombers that Hawthorn must exploit. Not only must they first to the ball at every stoppage, they must be last to get up at the bottom of packs and must leave a weary bombers outfit with hands on hips after hawthorn has used its best weapon, its run, to flatten bomber intensity and get them to drop their heads. It is critical that hawthorn's skills are sharp this week in order to provide roughhead and franklin with the best service while at the same time pushing back hard into defence to help out the opponents of Lucas and Lloyd, most likely Brown and Gilham/Croad. If we run and carry, and don't uveruse the handball, we can take Essondon to pieces.

the bombers didnt play with any extra determination on the weekend.... MJ said it in a post match interveiw, pretty much every player said it and even the commentators said that it didnt seem like there was extra intensity this week as compared to previous weeks... to say we are just going to lie down this week and not care is ridiculous.. even as a supporter i didnt notice anything extra on sunday.. god i hope we can belt you guys this w/e so many of your supporters are such w***ers.. the few of you that actually have a brain must get so annoyed at the fact that your other supporters are dragging your name through the mud

Yep... But some on this forum do know their stuff. Others are very biased but every team is like this so...

Well that's a bit rich considering the reason Essendon are despised by supporters of most other clubs is not because of their team, but due to their arrogant toss bag supporters.

Paragraphs motherf###er. Can you use them?

Every team has their "w***erS" !!!! Yes even ESSENDON!!!

Everyone wants to belt us everyweek so tell me something I don't know!

I'd like to see a week where someone hasn't tried pathetic finger pointing just get a bite!!:p

Pretty much spot on there :thumbsu:
Roughead and dixon to actually touch the footy and maybe just maybe kick 3 golas btween them!!Just to give buddy a chop out!Send boyle an S.O.S.! and for a small forward perhaps the butcher in their purley to tackle and chase,,the opposing rebounding defenders!

Croady to smash LLoyd/Brown smash lucas/

The Sheedy thing is just all media BS and has no impact on us.

We have been playing quite consistant footy, without being great for awhile now and i would expect this to continue.

You will have more run than us and if you win more than your share of stoppages you will win.

IF, a big IF, we can hold Buddy, it should make for a close game.

I expect you guys to bounce back hard and i'm sure it will be a very good game.

Doubt you will smash us and i don't see how we are frail.

Average yes, Frail, no

Finally an opinion with knowledge and fairness---- I like it!:thumbsu:

Sunday @ the G -
No better place to Be

Im not so worried about Franklin as i am your midfield. It seriously has the potential to destroy us. If we can limit Franklin's supply it will go along for an Essendon win. Although having said that Franklin will post likely be double teamed and i can't seeing him kick 9 again. Hawthorn musn't allow Essendon to play a loose man in the back half.

This did happen in the second half last time. Buddy kicked 4 in the second half. I agree on the midfield thing, ours has the ingredients to maul yours, if you even us in the midfield, you will win the match.

I see it as danger danger danger, our midfield is quick but doesnt tackle or chase or go for hardball gets as much as they should, if bombers go hard at it i think our players will go soft like previos weeks.
But then agian when they hurt really bad they come back the next week and smash the other team.
Back at the G, BUDDY loves the G, hawks love the G, I love the G.

Does anyone else think its a massive game like i do for two reasons.
1. We looked like hawthorn 2003-05 last week and showed signs of it against st kilda so im wondering if this is the path we are taking for the remainder of the season and,

2. Ive got a feeling Mr Sheedy may really get his boys revved up for this one seeing as though its the last time (maybe unless we clash in the finals) he will coach against hawthorn one of his rivals over the years! He could get very excited about this one and could bring out some of his best work before the game to rev his charges.

Wouldn't this be critical every week?

He's got a point - some of the more vocal Hawthorn supporters seem to have it in for Essendon and bag them at every opportunity (Chewy in particular)

But I think the Hawks will win and win well this week - every team goes through a rough patch, look at West Coast a couple of weeks ago. Essendon aren't a great side and were lucky to beat an Adelaide side that has struggled in Melbourne this year.

LOL, how many times have we been "lucky" this year.....

Ever consider that we have learnt from our previous year when we ALWAYS lost those close ones to now we always win them?
