Strategy How would this work?

What if a club, say GC, on traded their F1 to another club. Then, in the draft, they have picks 3, 6 and 45. They have no other live picks after that. They take two live picks with 3 and 6. The next pick, 7, someone nominates their academy player, which they then match. They only have pick 45 left, so they can then use get a value deficit for the next years 1st rounder.
The club that traded for their F1, would get it downgraded further because of the deficit GC are in, or would it only affect their next live pick in the future draft?

It would be the next pick that they hold, that would be deducted from, so their future second

Future picks are assumed to have their minimum possible value when matching. ie. your future first is assumed to have the value of pick 18.

In that situation, if they only had pick 45 and their F2, F3 and F4 left, then they wouldn't have enough points to match and would have to pass.
