Spot on big al. You certainly sold me. Is poaches and his brother goin around again? May solve some height issues, but with no Picket, Findlay or Tucker that spine may be a bit stretched like you said.

Schuberg is only a 6 footer or maybe 6'1 but is big & strong enough to hold down a key back position. Donnan can play key back or key forward quite capably, but I think he will be best value in the ruck, as a very mobile ruckman. He may be only 6'2 but can jump & run like a gazelle. Towelled up Carmody v Wang last year in the ruck and Carmody was going as well as any O&M ruckman at that stage.

Played football with a number of guys years ago who were from down there and like to watch their clubs progress over the years.

Played with a guy from Lockhardt (Dave Burkinshaw), had a younger brother, who would be early twenties now I suppose, who was starting to go alright, wondering does he still play.

Could it be Tommy Burkinshaw, he's from Lockhart & is early 20's. Very skilled but a bit lazy, currently at North Albury playing 2's.

Donnan may be just what they are after then. Have seen Schuberg play and I still think they will be lacking for height even with him. Curious to know how Nixon and Anderson are going at Howlong. Both very skillful and attacking players who may find the big grounds to their liking. Anderson may struggle (ankles) as the grounds in the TDFL were too hard on him so wait til he runs out on Walbundrie or Burrum

Reading from other posts on this thread, the general consensus would be a fairly tough year for Holbrook. Minimal new recruits, Edmunds & Masterston the big names but the latter appears set to watch most matches this season from the sidelines with wonky knees!
Edmunds can obviously play and will mix it with the best of them, but his sides lack of depth appears destined to hurt the first time coach.

Holbrook will not set the world on fire, but after the mass exodus of players from previous years the club would be silly to expect a premiership this year or next. With a few handy inclusions this year (Edmunds, Way, Hickey, Piltz brothers) they will be looking at putting some time into young blokes and gathering momentum for the years to come.

Sounds exactly right.

His brother Dave played with us, he too could play a bit but was struggling to get off the lounge at the end of his time here.

Used to play with another guy, Paul Duncan was from Jindera or Walla I think.

Just watch the posts on those clubs to see how they are travelling.

Heard off a Henty committee member that Mark Sanson is copping 16k for the year and they are paying 14 players.
Sounds like they are going all out, if they can't win the flag this year they never will.
It must be great to have so many loyal locals like Osborne.

Really to coach a club 16K would be a good deal but there are a lot of coaches going around on a lot more than that. Obviously Daisy you have never been involved with the coaching side of things and don't realise that it's not just about doing the pregame and halftime speeches, it starts in Oct and doesn't end until you season is spent, so when you average it out 16K for a years work is pretty good I would have thought. Also Henty may be paying 14 players but that doesn't necessarily mean they are going all out. Blokes travelling have to get paid now a days and not knowing Henty's structure Im sure some would be just on fuel money for example. Do you consider those payed players? As for Osborne yes they have some loyal servents (Howard, Schneiders) but there wouldn't be many that are going out there for free. Correct me if I'm wrong but that is how footy is now a days.

Walla probably under achieved last year. They will defiantly push for the top three along with Howlong, Osborne and Henty. Walla seemed to have a midfield as good as most but lacked big guys. Hotrod, Ryan, Tolkin, Murray are all big guys. Dont think they lost many either have they?

Mark would be *****house at poker, too conservative. Tim would either do all his cash on the first few hands or he'd win heaps and pretend to be a high roller for the rest of the game. Brett would prob be the dealer and try to run the game, and Paul couldn't care less as long as Brett didn't beat him. Paul would prob have to loan Tim money before the game was done.
