Adelaide has as much chance of ever getting a 3rd side as Melbourne does of getting a 10th.

When Port packs out AAMI every week, they can have another team.

WA are so far in front of SA as the number 2 AFL state it's not funny.

Neither.

Got any more intelligent questions?

Make no mistake, there will be 3 AFL teams from SA in the future.
Adelaide will be forced to align with either Glenelg or Norwood.

With the SANFL being a 9 team comp the obvious splits are:

Glenelg, South, WWT
Port, Centrals, West
Norwood, Sturt, North

The Norwood side will probably play at Adelaide Oval or a new inner city stadium whereas the Gleneelg and Port based sides are likely to continue at AAMI.

Player management will become simpler as instead of one SANFL mimidraft there will be three, based on who your AFL club has chosen. Players will be managed within 3 clubs not spread over 9. SANFL teams, who are now facing a generation of kids who dont know life before the Crows and Power will be guided into allegiances based on those 3 clubs linked to their AFL club.

Its pretty obvious really, you just cant see it yet.

You didn't say allegiances, you had the Norwood Crows as a team obviously formed as a merger of Norwood and Adelaide. That will not happen. What you are talking about in your second post is dividing the SANFL up between the SA AFL teams for reserves etc.

Neither Port nor the Crows need to merge and they wont but make no mistake if one of them HAD to it wouldn't be the one with a membership waiting list who routinely sells out AAMI stadium....think about it.

Don't base your opinion on how much we support Aussie Rules based on Port's attendance figures. It's not that we're not passionate about the game...we just hate port.

If SA got another team it would need to be another SANFL composite team. The trouble with just promoting SANFL teams is that generally you've cut your audience back to 1/9 of the market to begin with. People supporting the other SANFL teams were never likely to jump on with the power, some did it is true but the empty stands week after week tell a story.

Could you promote two? Glenelg Roosters as a random example - keeping them as separate in the SANFL of course.
I doubt it would work, but could it be an option?

But I don't see a third team in SA any time soon; Perth is growing, has the money, and already has a much larger population. A third WA team is an absolute must, it might not have the money early but over time support should even out a bit (as today's kids, the first generation to have 3 teams to choose from, start to grow up) and all three could be strong.
