Not perfect as we are missing one team but of that list I really like Gold Coast and surprisingly Hawthorn and Adelaide.

Bulldogs have good KP players but a terrible midfield while North are the opposite. Not too surprisingly Geelong's forward line would not fill anyone with confidence.

If these were the teams going into 2024, and assuming no one got injured I think Gold Coast would be premiership favourites (baring in mind I have not seen Collingwood's under 26 team) with a few clubs really really struggling.

CCJ in at CHF for the north team

And Zac fisher hbf for north

So our key talls are
Comben and Logue as the key backs
Larkey and CCJ key forwards

Larkey is a quality player. Simpkin is a brave player but lacks disposal skills. No other Club would offer him 5 years.

I think he is worth 5 years as you know what you are going to get from Simpkin and you can guarantee he will be in all teams best 22 in 5 years time. He may not be the best player North has, but as long as his contract was not too big in terms of money I think a 5 year contract is justified.

I mean his disposal efficiency of 71% placed him above Taranto and hopper and they got 7 year deals.

Well there is no accounting for the madness of those two Tigger contracts. Comparing DE data is fraught. Hopper and Simpkin are similar kicks imo.

Simpkin has to be very conservative with his disposal given his Ltd skills (I am not saying he is as bad as ex Roo and Swan, Clark, but he is in the land of scrubby kicks).

But we are talking about disposal efficiency.

I take it you also believe no other club would offer 25 year old, dual best and fairest and club captain a 5 year deal?

He plays for a Club that is among the worst in the AFL era. I truly doubt any Club inc WCE would give him a 5 year deal.meh would miss on a best 23 spot at most Clubs.

Larkey kicked 71 goals for the worst team of the modern era. Didn’t stop the swans offering him $1 mill a year for 6-7 years.

True that Larkey is one of the few quality players on your list. And he kicked the 71 without the advantage of playing two games v nmfc.

So it’s not disposal efficiency. It’s not playing for north.

It’s the vibe I guess.

polish your comprehension skills kiddo.

I noted Larkey is a quality player. (Twice-above) Would you like me write it again in bold caps?

The disposal issue relates to Simpkin.

I can read your rambling nonsensical musings.

You said Simpkin’s disposal efficiency precluded him from getting a 5 year deal. I showed 2 players on seven year deals with lower disposal efficiency.

You then said Simpkin wasn’t worth a 5 year deal because he played for the worst team of the afl era. I showed you how playing for north didn’t stop the swans trying to get larkey (unsuccessfully).

So I’ll leave you here so you can collect your thoughts.

Bless.

You are struggling today.

You raised the two players. One is an A grader and the other a B grader. Of course Larkey would interest most Clubs…. Simpkin would not. Winning 2 BnFs is a fine thing no doubt, but let’s face it there is not much competition is there?

I reckon he would struggle to break into any other midfield and best 23 in the Comp. There would not have been a queue of suitors from other Clubs.

First time in a very long time I think that Geelong would be able to fill a starting 18 of under 26 year olds and there's only one debutant. He was an early pick to boot.

Collingwood can't fill out a full best 22 plus sub. With the incomplete list as is it would be:
FB: I Quaynor, N Murphy, T Jiath
HB: J Ryan, C Dean, H Demattia
C: J Daicos, P Lipinski, E Allan
HF: B McReery, R McInnes, H Harrison
FF: A Begg, N Krueger, B Hill

You missed Carmichael. Hopefully we can add Eyre to this list soon. But otherwise we are lacking a bit under this age bracket.

Ash Taylor Perryman
Idun Aleer Fahey
Angwin Callaghan Cumming
Brown Cadman Daniels
Bedford Riccardi Jones
Briggs Green Rowston
OHalloran Peatling Gothard Leake

Also in mix:
Stone, Wehr, McMullin, Hamilton, Gruzewski, Derksen

Not too surprisingly Geelong's forward line would not fill anyone with confidence.

Bit weird to single out Geelong. They've probably got the most proven small/mediums in the league between Stengle, Close, Miers and O Henry.

That's 1 quality key forward away from being a strong forward line. And 2 of the last 3 flags have been won by teams with average key forwards. Much, much bigger question marks over our midfield.
