Really, really disappointed that we lost. It was there for the taking and we let ourselves down.

It was a great display from our guys - thought cyril and tuck played outstanding games along with a captains performance from mitch. For those who keep calling for Murphy to be dropped, he has played I think less than 50 games and last night was cool under pressure a number of times, I think the guy deserves to be given a chance.

Geelong are a superior team skill wise, strength wise and game experience - they are MEN. Our boys took it upto them last night and while I live in hope for September I think 09 could be the one we grab.

The humility in this team saw us drop off but really it is irrelevant because they did what they needed to and they did that with a level of effort that I've not seen from your mob.

Yet I found myself barracking for you guys last night because of the sheer intensity of your attack on the footy. You should be very proud of your lads. It really is a fantastic team. Good luck for the rest of the season.

I am almost willing to concede that the Cats are the greatest team I have seen play. I honestly believe everything I write about my team but it is no blight on your club ... What my Hawthorn heart tells me is that you guys have been so dominant that you haven't had to play at the intensity we have. The fact that I feel the two clubs have an epic finish ahead is a win for me and to be able to even challenge you naturally takes away any ceiling on my belief in the team.

Hey even if I am full of it, aint I a lucky supporter.

It was awesome ... I watched you guys get on top of us and then see our boys fight relentlessly to get themselves in the game ... As a fan I felt privileged to be a Hawk ... I couldn't give a stuff how much shit I cop the Hawks are the best !!!

Absolutely great game and was very proud of the boys as well. In all honesty in games such as this, umpires should be given instructions to pay ONLY the obvious and let the game flow with the 2 greatest teams this year giving the FANS what they want to see.

I thought the crowd was great as well, before during and especially after the game. Didn't see any incidents from either supporters and from what I saw Cats and Hawks supporters were gracious in success and defeat respectively!

Honestly how do I answer this question? In short I know people well it's my thing for whatever reasons. The FACT is that this team has shown again that they are willing to go to intensity levels that are mindboggling in that it is equal to whatever it takes to win.

You guys mention Ablett and Ling as outs and Milburne etc. Sure you have about 15 - 20 % improvement in your team that is peaking.

Good for you I do have huge respect for your club.

We all witnesed the future of the hawthorn fc last night, we lost the 4 points but gained the repsect even with the cats outs no one gave us a chance and had hodge kicked to a hawk and not a cat we could very well be celebrating a remarkable victory.
We will cuase havic come finals and i dont think any team out there will realize how real we are until the come up againts us again ...

Me too apart from Hodgey's errors. This game I believe was a sign of great things to come. Alot of young players experienced finals atmosphere and every player now knows how it feels to play a great side. I have full confidence in the team come finals time - I can see a few upsets coming up. GO HAWKS!

Not sure about winning the flag, but clearly we're the 2nd best in the comp at the moment.

Yes we have to sit back and recoup our thoughts .Flag is possible but Geelong are dynamite and will be better in September,BUT so will we .We looked at the measuring stick on Friday night and will be preparing. But we were marvelous and are building a dynasty.

Not sure why you would be happy with losing no matter how well your team plays. The fact is you were in front and should have won, i would be disapppointed as a supporter, not with the effort which could not be faulted but i dont think accepting a loss is good. I am sure the players arent satisfied with it. To win premierships near enough is not good enough.

There are some great posts today. What a fantastic pair of clubs. Isn't it what we all crave, two gun teams, giving each other everything in the name of winning.
You know you have to respect your main enemy, because you gauge your power on the strength of your greatest apponant. If Mohammad Ali had flattened Foster Bibron( do you know who I'm talking about?) Maybe the rules committee could look at this prior to the finals, perhaps if you are lucky enough to end up 4th they could introduce a rule that allows 4th to have 4 extra players when playing the top side Geelong in 1st final? I assume you are saying Croady played poorly, which shows you have no idea at all. Croad absolutely embarrassed Mooney who went missing for the 2nd time in a row in big games this season (All star, yeh right ). I think Mooney went 2-3 quarters without even touching it.

However, if you want to speak about defenders, let's chat about Scarlo. Possibly the greatest full back ever. Usually gets 25+ touches a game dashing off his man, last night he had about 7 as he was to scared to leave Buddy's side and yet defensively he was still pantsed when he and Buddy went one on one. It was only Buddys usual inaccuracy which saved him from total embarrassment but any true football fan still realises he got one big can of ass whopping last night.
