At what point, after a decade of No Dickheads policy, do we realise that we’ve recruited players who’ll largely get along with any coach and that Ken just happens to be the man in that seat right now

IMO playe loyalty to Ken is vastly overrated. I doubt we’ll lose anyone to his next club that we wanted to keep

Yeah, his current situation is a bit different to his circumstance at Gold Coast, where he was actively trying to white ant Guy McKenna to take over the top job.

Those sorts of shenanigans here would only be undermining himself.

I doubt any one could be really surprised if either of Schofield or Montgomery have become disenchanted with kern et al, but of the two I believe Monty could be the first to walk, as I was told by a reliable source that he doesn't suffer fools gladly and has done it in a previous job, when he lost faith in the senior administration.

If either one, or worse still both did leave the club after only one season, then surely the powers that be would finally wake up to the fact the common denominator has to be kern and they just can't keep changing the dates on the calendar in the hope of a better outcome.

He may well be at the wheel of a depressing malaise at the club, but one thing about Hinkley is how highly he is regarded seemingly unanimously across the industry from any vantage point (head coach, fellow assistant coach, subordinate assistant coach, players, consultants). Now this may actually be one of the reasons he has not been successful as a senior coach, but let's not kid ourselves that the likes of Schofield and Montgomery walk in and think he's an idiot.

In my opinion posts like this are dogshit and don't do anyone justice. Guarantee you would not have run with that sort of rumour in Hinkley's first couple of years.

I think it's time for a change, but some posts are getting quite ridiculous.

Interesting, speculation, or...…...

Okay look, I love Schoey and Monty and am really glad to see them at the club, but we still have plentiful issues with our midfield and defence that I feel like we are overlooking.

Our midfield:

Is definitely better than it was under Voss. We have a far more aggressive midfield with Boak and Rocky returning to their best, and SPP and drew have also worked well into our mid without dragging us down due to their lack of experience (Excluding maybe Drew) Wines at his best also works well in our midfield, and in general we have a very strong centre square of players. So what's our current problem? Our midfield is slow, too slow, with all the big-bodied men we use we seem to lack any quick and mobile midfielders, which have cost us games against quick and swift midfields (E.G Richmond) but more importantly we STILL suffer from poor disposals coming from the midfield into the forward 50. Our wingmen are very good at the moment, much better than the past few years, but we could be losing a few wingmen in the coming years, but I'm happy with Duursma in his first year and Amon finally finding some form, Westhoff is out of form, but that not Schofield's fault. I think once we finally find some more pace in our midfield we could potentially have the most menacing midfield in the competition, but we need to fix this issue before it costs us too many games.

Our defence:

Honestly isn't great, to be fair it is mainly due to our new gameplan, but I still feel like our defence is far worse than what it could be at its peak.
First of all, we have too many defenders pushing up the field and racking up high disposal counts. Housten, DBJ, Burton, Bonner, Broadbent and Hartlett all like to push up the field more to rack up more disposals, which usually helps us get the ball out of our defensive 50, but as a sacrafice, we lack a good strong locking defence, allowing for far easier scoring opportunities for the opposition. Jonas is basically the same as he's always been, and is very important, but because of the new defence setup he doesn't get as much of the ball as he used to, while Clurey is very good at one on one's against key forwards, but that's not the problem. We have allowed for FAR too many opposition forwards to get away with unacceptably high goal tallies, including Eric Hipwood, Tom Lynch, Jack Gunston and Micheal Walters to all get away with six goals, this is due to our lack of setup where we push too many defenders up the field, which can cost us when the opposition use forwards that can outpace Jonas and Clurey, with no mobile defenders to help out. Among all our coaches Monty is probably the one we know the least about at the moment, with many of his ideas and visions remaining clouded in mystery.

I'm glad we have both of them, but that doesn't mean they don't have plenty of room for improvement.
