not sure how i managed it, but i didn't even have a queue, straight in. Mind you i didn't do it until about 8am.
I've never been to a GF, always been something very high on my bucket list but it just hasn't happened for me. In 2004 I was in year 12 and I actually turned 18 the day after the GF, but i couldn't get my hands on tickets.
Very close to going in 2007, but i was a poor uni student then and had spent a fair bit of my money on the QF and prelim so i couldn't get the funds together. Probably a blessing in the end.
Now back through the ballot process again, hopefully this is finally the year it happens.
I'm just hoping with fingers crossed, definitely not getting ahead of myself.Good luck to you and all. Got to get past Friday though, so I am hating this talk & pre-planing about GF's.
I missed 2004 as I couldn't afford the high end membership need to give me priority access. Got to the 2007 by tagging along with some coworkers who were priority members. Also went to 1997 as I had a mate that had premium SANFL membership that gave him access to GF tickets.
Last year every single Brisbane Lions member who went into the ballot got a ticket.
Good luck to you and all. Got to get past Friday though, so I am hating this talk & pre-planing about GF's.
They were clear to me - we have five priority 1's and two GA memberships that are Priority 3, I asked if there was any chance of those barcodes getting a ticket and was told "I'm going to be honest, I don't think you'll get a ticket, I'd be shocked if you did". I didn't ask about Priority 2 though - what are peoples thoughts on Priority 2?Not relevant to most here I imagine but the club shouldn't be encouraging P3 members to make a non tax deductible donation to Ticketek, they should make it very clear that the chances of tickets being available to P3 are essentially zero. Arguably misleading and deceptive conduct.
Just saw this, hope you got is sortedCan anyone do my codes for me? I’m travelling to Sydney during my window!
To be fair it's a generational thing here. I've attended SANFL GF's since the mid 80's and throughout that time and the 90's, it was literally a crowd made of Port supporters and then supporters of every persuasion going for whomever we were playing. The Port Vs the rest isn't just a saying, it was actually physically practiced. How flipping pathetic are those morons. Saw so many of their dumb jumpers in both finals we've played. How much of an actual ****ing loser do you have to be to not only go to your rivals finals, but wear your stupid colours. Pissants.
This would be right. There might also be a fair few rows with only 1 seat left too, given the way the numbers fell on specific rows too.Its Ticketek so nobody knows for sure, but if its a truely random selection, as they say, it shouldnt matter.
If there was only 1 ticket left to allocate and you were next to be processed by the algorithm then yes you wiuld miss out if you had an order for 2 tickets.
But the chances of that happening would be rare.
To be fair, while it does feel like we’re getting ahead of ourselves. All 4 clubs have to go through this.Good luck to you and all. Got to get past Friday though, so I am hating this talk & pre-planing about GF's.

Yeah, it was way worse in 2020 and 2021 too, when the trip to Bris or WA had to be pre-planned otherwise you just had no hope. Driving in 2020 wasn't even an option and a drive to WA is always a ridiculous option.A guy in my group said the same thing, he's superstitious about it (doesn't like getting ahead of himself etc, I used to be the exact same). I'm no longer superstitious after a near death experience a few years ago, so basically told him that it's a part of being a preliminary finalist and all 4 sets of fans have had to do the same pre-planning around tickets without knowing if they'll qualify. It's not getting ahead of ourselves any more than the other 3 clubs.
We had a campervan booked for the drive to WAYeah, it was way worse in 2020 and 2021 too, when the trip to Bris or WA had to be pre-planned otherwise you just had no hope. Driving in 2020 wasn't even an option and a drive to WA is always a ridiculous option.
For 2021, we had booked flights and an entire itinerary of accom from Perth to Margaret River and Freo. All cancellable. I friggin HATED having to do that, but had to do it.
By the sound of things it may be better if he stays home , or maybe it’ll be third time luckyI'm just hoping with fingers crossed, definitely not getting ahead of myself.
Hopefully you can go and have a better experience than 1997 and 2007, i honestly couldn't think of two worse GF's to go to than those 2.
How do I PM haha, only joined today I would be forever grateful if I could get my hands on those ticketsCan’t make it myself to the prelim, so I have two tickets, category 3, Bay 26 - happy to sell at face value to a fair dinkum supporter and bigfooty member who has a decent history here. PM me if genuine.

Again, not wanting to get too far ahead of myself, but I would recommend to anyone who registered for Cat 1 GF tickets to make accommodation bookings pronto.
You can do it through booking.com, and make sure that you book a room with free cancellation, in case we get done on Friday
I booked at Mercure Albert Pk this morning, 3 nights for $720, and I can cancel with no fee until next Wednesday. Already, this has gone up by a further $150. A lot of places are already booked out.
Only 4.4km from the MCG, or a short tram/bus trip and a shorter walk. But I don't know Melbourne well - does public transport operate all hours?Yep there are plenty of good ones available at a reasonable price (under 750 for the weekend). Albert Park is a bit out of the CBD though. If people are looking for CBD options at that price, Air Bnb is your best bet.
