Simo was superb on the couch. Especially when he said he’d be bitterly disappointed if the narrative about the game was all about the Rioli non free.

Called out Robbo without saying his name. Just said “a certain journalist”

And how good was this stat?

Credit where credit's due - both AFL360 and On the Couch gave us our due and were very complimentary. Think whatever piddly flames of discontent were building about the non-free were addressed well and were basically hosed down, thanks to Simmo who performed magnificently and also our trusty ally, Gerard Healey.

I will now go back to not watching both of those shows again until we make the GF again next year

I almost fell out of my chair when Alan Ricardson said it wasn't a free

Just posted this to the mainboard, but it's where I'm at after a few.

The Whately podcast with King, AFL 360 and On the Couch did what 7 couldn't (outside of a positive Carey).

Which is tip the coverage back from an undignified direction and be kind of great, doing the game justice.

Sometimes you have to think beyond your tweet mentions or a headline and remember that grandfinals have a legacy. How you cover them, like a great Huddo call, becomes part of the historic record, grandfinal folklore and the bits that people remember. Sometimes the only thing the public will recall from an entire season. Do it well and it does the whole game justice and elevates the spectacle to another level.

You would think that's a good broadcaster or pundits responsibility. The one game you step past your own bullshit and take note of the occasion.

Don't do it and like a dropped mark, you better hope it's forgotten. Reputations can take a real hit. Buckley tries to act with dignity and grace but what sticks with opposition supporters may end up being how a few media flogs inspired one of most silly and churlish petitions I have seen.

The AFL finally got a close grandfinal, full of highlights and emotion, something they have been dying for. That fans have hoped for. It takes a pretty ballsy arseh*le to stand up and say, I'm going to make it all about my pet peeves and baggage on the national stage.

Does anyone have a link to that fox footy premiers video that they showed on afl 360 I think it was done by David North they said. That was incredible
Been searching twitter hard for it, nothing yet

Simmo even had a dig at Mark Robinson geez Simmo is a legend who wouldn't want to play under that magnificent bastard !!
Can anyone get a link to watch this...would be very interested seeing the dumbfounded facial expressions of the Vfloggs :)

TBF, they've really got no option.

After we won the GF, even those flogs can't give us a hammering.

They also mentioned earlier in the show that Stephenson's run was measured at 26m for his second goal.

Thank **** for that - I was going ballistic, he’s only run the marathon but play on because the crowd roared.

All this talk of the block and not one word about the 100/100 holding the ball on Howe in our goal square with one minute to go. No, not the other HTB on Howe deep in our forwardline, the one that happened with 60 seconds remaining. Not a word.

lol I think they could have been ordinary about it but to my surprise they weren't. I'm happy to call out shit coverage and behaviour so only fair to point out the good shit too. shrug/

Yeah, the gushing over our performance was like they were making up for 4 years of non-coverage (outside of Gerard Healy).

But they all did seem genuine and waxed lyrical about the game itself, the big moments and focused almost entirely on West Coast and the game as a whole which was good.
Even mentioned some of the lesser-lights in Schofield for his outstanding job on De Goey and Sidebottom.

Very professionally done.
Must find that montage though, sensational stuff.
