Make of it what you will

I think him moving was the right thing for him and the club and it also illustrates to me that the quicker we bring this young group through under McQualter the better

Agree with needing the young group coming through, the older blokes (and coaches) were the ones that allowed the standards to drop through the floor. Clubs done the right thing (albeit slowly) making off and on field changes. Couldnt have asked for anymore though now (with the exception of the Beagles setup) than what's happened this off season

In terms of the interview, no new info there really, was definitely the right move for everyone

Good luck to him, but honestly i hope he gets bags kicked on him every single week next year

Hope he wins the Reverse Coleman.

Fair enough... nobody would have enjoyed the last couple of years, especially the backs.

I said it in the thread but my word was he was the one sending messages mid year that got Simmo sacked

Bloke also wanted to quit after the 18 premiership from memory

Actually lucky to get a decent trade for the bloke if he was considering hanging the boots up

1. Yep lots of changes off field. :whitecheck:

2. Hopefully, Baker and Graham give a rocket to a few older players who are putting the 'coast' in West Coast. (Plus, them knowing McQ probably won't hurt in that regard.) :whitecheck:

3. And, if there's the equivalent of a Joel Selwood among the younger players - not so much in skills (not that JS was a mug) but in terms of standards. :whitecheck:

Half our list is young. Get an improvement across all/most of them that'll set a good base for the club's future.

On Peter Vlahos SEN show they were saying Glendinning and Petrie have left the club because they didn’t like the direction it was going in and apparently Trevor woodhouse was sacked as recruiting manager last week, didn’t woodhouse leave years ago??😂

I heard Pyke and Woodhouse had an ugly fall out last week

Here was the gossip

Just heard how Pyke fired Trevor Woodhouse (30 year Eagles recruicter who was unhappy about the trading of pick 3). Got the new bloke to fly over from Adelaide to tell him rather than tell him himself. Pyke has known Woodhouse the entire time basically and didn't have the balls to front him. Also, couldn't handle legitimate critisism so fired the bloke instead. Pyke has been the biggest dissapointment during this entire debacle I reckon. I understood Simmo's calls (connection to players etc...) but cannot understand ANYTHING Pyke is doing. Absolutely shoking. Rant over.

With all the elderly statesman coming into the side i believe we will be more competitive than the last few years. The older players we got over the trade period will defintely improve the side.
Outs
Darling was struggling maybe a new team will help him.
Barrass just couldn't move the ball quick enough for my liking but a very good defender
Gaff great player in his time but got left behind with pace.
Ins
Graham gives a good competition
Baker will improve the pace side of things and is very reliable
Owies still have my doubts if he is going to make the team better just have to wait and see
It will be a good short term fix in my opinion and help our young players along the way.

With respect to those guys, the club hasn't exactly been going in a 'good' direction for the past 4 years.

Not saying Pyke's in the right over this but our recruitment over the past few years hasn't exactly set the world on fire.

This is the thing that gives me the shits. Standards cratered completely and we were only a few years removed from a premiership. We had 14 Premiership players on the list in 2022 as well as Nic Nat, Gaff and Tim Kelly...what the bloody hell happened?

Soft leadership letting the players get away with subpar standards? Players still happy with themselves after '18? It's so bizarre.

Peter must have just caught up with Suma’s interview on sports fm last week where he went over all this at about the 19 min mark

That's interesting.

I would have assumed Pkye would have had to sign off on the splitting of pick 3.

Surely it’s not a surprise Drew Petrie moved on?

He may has well have had ‘I’m with Simmo’ stamped on his forehead.

Lots of turnover at the club in the last 2-3 years…

Change will be good.

Petrie had seemed quite settled here and his departure is a genuine loss since we’d spent a fair bit of time and effort establishing him as the successor to Ian Miller

Glendinning is 68 and wasn’t involved in operations as such - more a marketing and promotional role. Him moving on is neither a surprise or an issue

Even Sumich said it was time for Woodhouse to go it was more the way it was handled that was the problem. Sounds like it could have been better for such a long time employee

There’s been widespread calls for change at the club, we shouldn’t be surprised that it’s happening

Genuine mountain out of molehill stuff this..

Pykes making the changes he deems necessary and its obviously going to ruffle some feathers. That's good, the club needs it

Sumas whole gripe (apart from the pick 3 stuff which is jury out at this stage) is how its all being handled rather than whether it should be done or not. Always going to be upset parties when long termers are moved on

Then Vlahos and some nuffies have run with some Chinese whispers version of the exact same thing and it's become "the clubs a mess"
