AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Agreed.
But they are in the best position!
Come on, Sydney in 05 were backing up from one of the most intense finals every played in Perth the weekend before. The SCG was waterlogged which also favoured the cats (Swans being 2nd worst wet weather side in the AFL back then). If ever Sydney were fodder in a final over the last 5 years it was that game.
Cats couldnt do it then, and probably cant now.
Can't see the swans finishing 4th. They have to hope power/eagles drop their next two which aint going to happen. Or hoper that non of collingwood/kangaroos/hawthorn don't win their next two games which is very unlikely, the roos have the blues and the dogs. They would give geelong problems but geelong have come a long way this year.
Exactly. We could lose to anyone, but is there any reason to think we're more likely to lose to Sydney? As I said, our last two outings we've won comfortably. Yeah, we could lose to Sydney, just like we could lose to anyone - so why is everyone acting like Sydney is the iceberg to our Titanic?
What people seem to forget is that Geelong only lost to Sydney in that final on the last kick of the night!
That was Sydney at their premiership best on their home soil. That's hardly a discredit to Geelong. An up-and-coming side that was one kick from a grand final! Now they're a better side and Sydney look shaky. I think the only danger in a Geel v Syd final is Geelong getting complacent and cocky and letting the game slip.
As a hawk fan I'd love to see the hawks beat Sydney in round 22, but on the smaller ground and our inability to handle choke-style footy, I can't see us winning.
What's this obsession with Sydney?
...
Yep.Well boys i dont give a stuff were we finish we are primed and ready to win another flag we are coming good at the right time of the year. As a sydney supporter i feel we can beat any team come finals time. Our side is made up of goers and doers not pretty boys when the going gets tough the swans get going. Can you other supporters say the same about your team.
Yep.
No troll but just thinking about this scenario.
It’s quite possible and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it yet happened. Geelong and West Coast will likely win both their last 2 games, leaving third spot for Port and if the Kangaroos lose to the Bulldogs in the last round Sydney will take fourth spot.
If Geelong play Sydney in the first week of the finals it could be goodbye for Geelong in 07 as the fear of losing another big final to Sydney would cost them the ultimate price. If Geelong loses their first final whoever plays them in the semis will be playing a team down on confidence and fearful of choking. If Geelong doesn’t choke in the semis they won’t win away from home at Subiaco in the prelims.
I guess round 22 Kangaroos vs. Western Bulldogs could be a vital piece in deciding who makes the Grand Final.
I strongly suggest you don't put your money down to support your theory. The Cats will rip your money to shreds. :
We play Collingwood and Hawthorn. A win over both of them regards of their next match will see Sydney leapfrog them.
The scenario for top 4 is:
Kangaroos drop 1 game
West Coast drops 2 games
Port Adelaide drops 2 games
West Coast are in an interesting position where they play a St Kilda fighting for their season, and an Essendon farewelling two favourite sons.
quiet as a mouse, and about as threateningCrows are still a quiet threat.
They are, but as you know my good friend, anything can happen, just look at your dream-team on the AFL website My team finished 7th and yours 3rd and mine won.
Hey!!
THanks for reminding me fricken D.Fletcher, Waters.
PS Amanda has got you covered I reckon.
Boy, does all this sound familiar.
It takes me back to a certain 2003 finals game against Port Adelaide, where Sydney were deemed to be too old and too slow, with key injuries to O'Loughlin, Kennelly and Ball...
IF we make top 4 I don't see how anyone could write the Swans off purely on our track record of finals performances in the last 5 years. I can't even count the times we were written off in the past only for it to come back and bite certain supporters on the ass.
